Change your stance on this and I would actually consider voting for you as your stance on other issues makes sense to me

Schools ban things all the time that some parents find perfectly ok.

Why is removing explicit graphic novels any different than banning R rated movies in high school/junior high, or PG rated movies in elementary school.

Deciding that graphic sex novels are inappropriate for the minor students is not "banning books"

I wonder why the only books being “banned” happen to be LGBTQ books.

About sex?

There are many books with graphic heterosexual sex.

Thank goodness they are not in the FCPS libraries. And we want to keep it that way!

Why do you think that? Have you actually been to any FCPS libraries? There are many books with adult content in high school libraries.

Please share with me information on the books with images (drawings or pictures) of heterosexual sexual acts in FCPS’ libraries. What are the titles, and what section of the school libraries are they in?

“Graphic sex” doesn’t mean illustrations.

Exactly! What people are objecting to is the illustrations (drawings and pictures) of explicit sexual acts that can be easily seen by any students, including those who can barely read because we have those students even in HS, and they would be the most vulnerable.

View the images and decide for yourself:

https://theiowastandard.com/shocking-images-from-book-gender-queer-which-is-stocked-in-school-libraries-across-iowa/

Why not look at the images in our public school libraries, and available to your children?

The current school board fought vigorously and long to make sure this book stays in schools. The current school board even went so far as to convene a hand-picked committee (who they chose) to “review” the material at the link, and deem it “not pornographic.”

Personally, if this material is so important, I don’t see why parents can’t just buy it for their kids outside of school, and give it to their kids at home.

Not clicking on that link at work since I suspect it's NSFW - the book is not pornographic but it's not appropriate. Don't know what people are thinking. SMH

The images depict pedophilia. What is wrong with you?

There’s a pattern of the Republican candidates either not responding to basic questions or, when they do respond, they give empty platitudes and vague nothing answers.

There is nothing stopping him from completing it today.

I'd like to hear directly from the Democratic candidates. Could you tell me when one of them might make themselves available here on DCUM? Thanks.
DP

We haven’t heard anything substantial from Paul either.

Ask him to explain his own comments and he goes silent. Not a good look.

And yet, he *voluntarily* put himself out there and make an effort to answer some of the questions - at least, those that were asked in good faith. I don't blame him for departing and ignoring the pile on from LWNJs. Meanwhile, we have seen ZERO Dem candidates here on DCUM. Cowards.

Asking him to explain his own comments/website is in good faith.

Paul, are you concerned by the losses for the Moms for Liberty candidates in TN?

Wait - how can images in a book be deemed “appropriate for school kids’ library,” but at the same time, NSFW? (not safe for work / could lead to employee discipline or termination?).

Is this porn? Because I'm sure it's somewhere in a school library or even a classroom book.

Can you please explain what pornography you believe is being provided to Kindergarteners? And how are teachers "promoting race hatred"? Do you believe that transgenderism is "gender pseudoscience"?

Why do you think that the common home sex ed book "It's Perfectly Normal" is "pornography"?

Have you actually read the book? It's not "pornography".

These are all tweets/retweets on your campaign Twitter account.

Very telling that Paul won't answer these questions about his own Twitter account.

Paul, did you know that Maureen Brody was a far-right nutter when you endorsed her?

I think someone already cleared up that the picture floating around was not me - not sure that matters much either. But it's true - not me.

Is this claim below true? If so, it seems like you are familiar with Moms for Liberty.
Paul Bartkowski, running for Fairfax County School Board, has retweeted Moms for Liberty, as well as the right-wing group Gays Against Groomers, who tweeted that anyone who opposes book bans “want pornography in schools” and “are perverts that want to sexualize children.”
https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/virginia-school-board-extremist-candidates-1234829927/amp/

You think these books are “pornography”? Have you actually read any of them? Because they aren’t pornography:
https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/pornography

It also looks like you’ve also reposted on Facebook a few posts from Parents Defending Education. What is your relationship with that group?
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092468241125

And on FB you claim that TJHSST’s ranking dropped because of “FCPS’s purposeful diminution of quality” at TJ. You do realize that the data used for this ranking occurred before the admissions change, right?

And you encourage people to vote for Maureen Brody. Did you know that she was an Insurrectionist?

Paul, can you please explain more about your connections to Parents Defending Education and Moms for Liberty?

+2. The more you know about Paul’s opponent the less likely you’d be to want to vote for her.
