Travis' "star" was 100% on the rise before hooking up with Taylor. His podcast with his brother was taking off (obviously), he'd done SNL, he inked all kinds of endorsement deals after that first Super Bowl win, etc. That's what happens when you're the best tight end out there on a winning Super Bowl team. I don't think she had anything to do with his other deals. |
That door will most likely stay cracked open. How would anyone know any new songs would be about Matty anyway? We went through 10 plus years and five albums that we know of with Taylor sneak referencing him multiple times. Plus 4 more albums on HIS side…. All with songs speaking to each other in code, responding to each other through lyrics and no one knew. None of us. It’s Love story of the ages of two mismatched souls never meant for each other. Serves a book. |
Completely agree with you. Unfortunately, there is now a sub group of fans who are going to swirl MH into future music too. It’s like the sub group that finds “hints” that she is not straight in songs. I think what we read into songs says a lot more about us than it does the artist. In the case of Matty, seems like a lot of people are still hung up on their own messy ex. |
The age thing has nothing to do with it and sounds pretty misogynistic. The fact that she is in a committed relationship does have something to do with it, however. |
A sub group of haters will too. |
Or it was also opening a door. I don't think she was/is sure. But she knew one result of the album would be to soften the public up to "them." I don't think she has any idea whether she will or wants to be with him, but if they reconcile, there will be people who this time accept them due to the story she told in TTPD of "cosmic love" (and a very small number of people hooked on the story who will cheer them on). At at least home they reconcile enough to write/release songs, even if married to other people. |
write and release songs together - I'll be annoyed if there are more longing back and forth lyrics. |
I too am curious to see what her next album will hold. More Matty songs - while she’s in a steady relationship and he’s engaged to another woman - is getting a little “I won’t be IGNORED, Dan.” |
Halsey in 2017: “To my lover, I'd never lie He said, "Be true", I swear I'll try.” Taylor on Lover in 2019: “Swear to be…true to my lover.” 🫣 |
It was a desperate cry-out to him: she finally admitted in front of her fans and the world how she feels about Matty. So now we all know who her love songs over the years were about. If she was over him, she would have written The Smallest Man and been done. But there are at least 15 other songs on that album alone that tell a different story. |
He inspired some great songs, but enough already. It is veering into bunny-boiler territory. |
Getting papped a lot while holding hands with someone is a far cry from a steady relationship. Celebs in steady relationships don't constantly tip off the paps. |
I am a rational person with multiple science degrees, and at this point even I am convinced that in addition to obvious songs like Cardigan, The 1, Question, Cowboy Like Me, Illicit Affairs, Maroon, and the majority of TTPD, most of Reputation and Lover were secretly written for Matty Healy too. The way he was belting out Lover at all the Eras concerts he attended, hand over his heart: no way someone with a big ego like him would’ve done it if he knew the song was about Joe Alwyn. Besides, Joe is handsome and all, but he is neither a magnetic force of a man nor can I picture him saving any dirty jokes for anyone.
Cruel Summer, The Archer, Death By A Thousand Cuts, Paper Rings, False God, It’s Nice To Have A Friend, Afterglow, Eng Game, Don’t Blame Me, Ready For It, Dancing With Our Hands Tied, So It Goes, King Of My Heart are all Matty Healy coded. |
Agreed and even if those songs are not All That Deep, and rather just using him as a writing muse, she can't really do that now. Well she can but, weird. Other topics and themes she covers are the price of fame, friends, politics, the Kardashians. Maybe we will get more of that. And football. And being a WAG. |
Ugh. Friend songs are always good, but otherwise, UGH |
