+1 A third party candidate from the likes of No Labels would hurt both Biden and Trump if both were to run. The support seems weak for both of them among the majority of people if given a reasonable alternative candidate. A mixed ticket team representing both liberal and conservative moderates might have a good chance. BTW I am doubtful Trump can or will be the GOP nominee. |
I disagree. Voting third party is a way of sending a message to the establishment. It is not a waste, and possibly for the first time since Ross Perot, a third party has the chance to be on the stage if they find the right candidate. |
So much free rent given to the idea of trump running as the GOP candidate. Biden will defeat him. No brainer. It is frustrating that little energy and thought is given comparatively to who should run if Trump isn’t the candidate. It’s not the party die-hards that anyone needs to worry about, it is rest of the people who will need convincing. And whether you personally like Harris or not, she is not a compelling candidate or running mate for Biden if Trump isn’t running against them. |
Frustrating as it may be, the solution is not third parties which just function is as spoilers if they have any effect at all. That is the intent of this party but it is unlikely to succeed. Look at Ohio's recent election. The GOP is trying to upset the inevitable outcome with non stop sleazy tactics like this third party business. And the voters are not fooled. The Ohio voters are paying attention and are going to get what they want, as they should. |
Narrator: Trump is going to be the candidate, even if he is convicted by the GOP convention. |
You understand that almost all of the GOP candidates raised their hands and said they would support Trump if he were the nominee, right? |
I’ll believe it when I see it. |
So are you saying people like Nikki Haley are lying when they said they would support Trump (in order to not inflame the MAGA base)? |
Yes! Politicians do whatever they can to stay in the game and retract statements/positions when it is convenient. Have you been living under a rock??? |
Yes, everyone sees women as people. Stated in a basic manner, pro-choice focus on the woman; pro-life focus on the unborn child. Are you aware of the various types of birth-control available ? |
Yes, the GOP’s famed pushback against Trump was so stro—- wait a minute. They all pledged fealty to him! |
+1 That's exactly how they do it. They have to in order to get elected in our current state of politics. 98% of American voters continue to vote for any candidate put in front of them by their preferred party without regard for accountability. |
Are you aware that not all birth control is 100% reliable? Are you not aware that sometimes, something goes wrong with the development of a fetus that forces an abortion? Are not aware that there are ectopic pregnancies that need to be dealt with safely? I can go on, but please. |
Of course most voters are going to select an unknown third option. Because when they make that selection, it’s based on this mythological notion that the third option is better than the ones running. Put an actual name to than third option and the polling will look very different. |
I agree 100%. It is very possible for a well qualified candidate who is fit for office by any reasonable standards (not a deranged narcissist or an octogenarian) to gain enough momentum to steamroll by Trump or Biden ahead of next year's election. Trump and Biden can agree not to debate each other so not to let their deteriorating mental conditions become so evident but if there is a viable 3rd party candidate requesting that there be at least one debate among the general election candidates, Trump and Biden would almost certainly feel obligated to participate. Just one debate with the two elderly men on stage with a normal, moderate, quick witted candidate would be enough to sway most voters away from their loyalties to the elderly candidates. At the very least, we should be sending a message to our two headed political establishment monster to let them know that a Trump/Biden rematch is unacceptable. |
