Call to discuss the state of Hardy 05/15/23

I'd suggest putting that energy into either voting with your feet or volunteering to serve on the principal selection panel. Do what you must. If a sick out is your plan, ok, but doubt it means much in late May beyond identifying the teachers on here spewing vitriol.

Don’t worry once we find them we’ll start a new burn book that gets them fired too. The power of the white pen strikes again!

And the mayor is BLACK. If you think these people were all just doing the bidding of some white parents, reflect upon what you are saying. They’re not capable of independent thought. They have no backbone. They don’t know how to do their jobs.

Or, just maybe, race has nothing to do with

Race had everything to die with. They are afraid of the privilege. And yes, they do not have a backbone.

I've been here all year, planning and researching great things to teach kids the last few weeks of school. Thinking of ways to help them grow over the summer with summer reading and math tasks. I'm here looking at professional development sessions and classes that I can take to enhance my craft and to continue to be the best teacher I can be so that your kids will excel and be competitive once they enter high school.

You probably aren’t the individual they think you are because Hardy is full of amazing teachers. It is impossible to try to identify anyone from anonymous internet posts. But once again, the PTO mob thinks they know everything.

Some people were panicking but other parent posters said to reach out to Cooke. He's reasonable. After those few posts, the thread stopped. None of the hysteria that we see now happened last school year. Were parents informed that a kid was passing out edibles to other kids and that some of the kids got sick last year under Cooke? There were not people at the school with their pitchforks calling for Cooke's job last year. Why is that? To have kids passing out from eating edibles and needing to go to the hospital is a serious thing. This happened last year under Cooke.

Precisely. All these concerns were there when Cooke was the principal. The difference is clear. Cooke was right to leave this toxic group of racist parents. Exhausting!

(I actually think I know who you are and agree that you’re dedicated.)

Where were you dying the middle-of-year assessment reflections? The math performance is atrocious. The data were from February 7. Do you find a due date for feedback of May 15 satisfactory? That was the due date to develop next steps and create a communication plan.

If you are the teacher I think, I do think you’re dedicated. I just wonder where you’ve been. I mean that sincerely.

I’m replying to my own post.

I was mistaken. I thought you were one particular teacher. Since I now know where the teacher I thought this was spent their morning, I know my guess was wrong about who you are. My questions now probably make less sense.

Cooke was much more engaged. Worked to know all of the kids. He was an active presence after school around Safeway making sure the kids didn't get into mischief. Sorry, but PJ hid from everyone and tried to ignore what was happening across the street after 3:30. Just one example of the difference.

Safety is just one area of concern. It helps if other things are going well.

Huh? What gobbledegook are you spouting? February 7th? May 15th? Are you just making up dates in your head to try to bolster your argument?

Nope. Those were very specific dates. The iReady assessment took place in February. The April CSP Step Back presentation that was supposed to occur in April had dates for “reflections” and next steps of May 15.

Sadly, the parents appear to know more about the school than supposed insiders.

To think the CSP is important to anyone other than the IS who uses it for impact and the admin evaluated on it, tells me that you're more of an outsider than you think

The LSAT was asking for the MOY (middle of year assessment) data from early March on. It has still not been delivered. All the LSAT received were some Microsoft Snipping Tool images pasted into a half-formed PowerPoint presentation, and two pages of summary math iReady results. And even they scant evidence was utterly damning.

I think everyone is missing the point that the teachers are trying to make. Hardy had problems and no one is glorifying PJs leadership. However, to remove him with 21 days left in school is a huge over reaction. Removing a leader largely destabilizes a school and sends a terrible message to kids and parents. Children have been walking around the building asking adults if they are going to to get fired too. Wacko parents have been coming out of the woodwork verbally assaulting teachers who dare to give their precious snowflakes a C because they are emboldened. What do you think the tone of graduation and the 8th grade end of year activities will be? You’ve soured the mood of the entire school and the kids will suffer because of it.

So, now you’re conceding that I wasn’t just making up gobbledegook, I presume.

The CSP sets the goals for the year. They are the goals. They are the benchmarks against which the school’s performance is judged.

When the dismal MOY results came in, Johnson’s response was to attempt to modify the goals to be lower to better match the data. (Instead of trying to raise the performance, the response was to lower the goals. Of course, that’s not permitted, so he failed, but it sure does tell you a lot about his leadership.) I kid you not. The videos exist.

MOY data is unreliable and misleading. Wait until the EOY scores come out before you rush to judgement.

The re-assignment (a DCPS decision) was announced late yesterday afternoon. Were students walking the halls last night?
