I would have wanted to weigh in. I'm in shock learning about all of the things that have been happening at the school. No, I'm not some inept teacher that sucks. I'm a dedicated teacher who faithfully works every day. I'm a sponsor for after school clubs, I engage in planning detailed and engaging lessons each day with your child. My focus is on them. Maybe my head was in the sand. There were things that needed to change. I'm looking forward to next school year to have a principal who can give us an Instructional focus for the year with specific goals that we must meet, to helping our kids crush the new math curriculum, to help our kids become stronger writers and readers, to help our kids feel safe each day coming to school, and for them to enjoy this time in their lives.

I appreciate you dedication to your craft.

Do you think parents should be allowed at your staff meetings and WTU meetings? A group meeting without you is not “secret.”

Ummmmm……when have parents ever been a part of staffing decisions at a public school?

Uh, every single principal selection panel?

Dear dedicated teacher,

(I actually think I know who you are and agree that you’re dedicated.)

Where were you dying the middle-of-year assessment reflections? The math performance is atrocious. The data were from February 7. Do you find a due date for feedback of May 15 satisfactory? That was the due date to develop next steps and create a communication plan.

If you are the teacher I think, I do think you’re dedicated. I just wonder where you’ve been. I mean that sincerely.

Parents are not part of the staff, nor are they members of the teachers union.

On the other hand, teachers are part of Hardy MS and should be included in any discussion outside stakeholders have regarding their school, specifically staffing

Huh? What gobbledegook are you spouting? February 7th? May 15th? Are you just making up dates in your head to try to bolster your argument?

Thanks! I was really proud of that one.

Principal Johnson is gone. DCPS made the decision. Not parents. I wish him luck. Time to focus on the future. For teachers on here who are upset, I can empathize. I'd suggest putting that energy into either voting with your feet or volunteering to serve on the principal selection panel. Do what you must. If a sick out is your plan, ok, but doubt it means much in late May beyond identifying the teachers on here spewing vitriol.

Thank you. I am the dedicated teacher. Not sure if I'm the one you are referring too. I've been here all year, planning and researching great things to teach kids the last few weeks of school. Thinking of ways to help them grow over the summer with summer reading and math tasks. I'm here looking at professional development sessions and classes that I can take to enhance my craft and to continue to be the best teacher I can be so that your kids will excel and be competitive once they enter high school.

The students are part of Hardy MS and parents speak on their behalf, not as "outsiders."

The principal, other admin, and DCPS Central are not part of the WTU either. Neither parents nor the WTU make decisions about principal HR, though both can speak up.
