Do you understand the word *continued*? Like at Gilman. |
They aren’t harboring pedofiles and it’s not a continued there, either. They just had a couple unfortunate people working there but to harbor them, seriously? |
Again, I said CONTINUED teacher sex abuser issues. I don’t know of one single school beyond Gilman that has the expose of two teacher pedophiles, and immediately has yet another one coming on board. Or did they actually overlap? I didn’t say “harboring pedophiles”. You did. |
| I’m the one who mentioned grooming the community. Yes, Bendann pulled the wool over peoples’ eyes- no question. My point is that what that looks like, is a wonderful guy that had a great reputation. That’s who we’re looking for. That’s who to be especially watchful of. |
What is your solution, to have only Gilman staff trained or can you understand, possibly that it could happen at your school with no training, intact yet, right? Why wait for the first time it happens? Get the training instituted at your school immediately. |
2 teachers in 80 years doesn’t really say they have an ongoing issue. We hear about the Catholic Church way more in the News than Gilman |
Please name the year(s) that Gilman did NOT have a pedophile teacher on its payroll. |
| So I am a former teacher at one of the fancy dc privates. This makes my stomach turn. I don’t know that I overlapped with any abusers, but the 15 years I worked at my school I am sure I did. We are trained, by some fancy big law firm, during the days leading up to school every year about mandated reporting, what to look out for, various forms of abuse etc. obviously if a kid told me about abuse or suspected abuse of any kind I would report it but I doubt I would suspect another teacher of many year who is well liked of abuse. One coach at my school was fired for embarrassing students at practice and having “punishments” like running and push-ups and singling kids out for that. That came from internal reporting of a student complaining to the advisor. I know many teachers, especially young females, who have babysat/petsat/house sat/tutored students. |
| Great to hear of schools that are quick to fire anyone who hints at the slightest bit of inappropriate behavior. No need to wait for any kind of proof of illegal abuse. |
I know someone that happened too at a private school in Bethesda, the police rushed, took him in handcuffs, face was all over the place on the web. They went on a child telling their parents something happened. It turns out she was angry with the teacher for something else and case was dismissed but parents were slamming him on line and everything. They sold him down the river before investigation. Judge dismissed it immediately. |
We did privates in Bethesda for a long time, but don’t remember that one. Which school? |
Beauvoir. It was Beauvoir - and I expect that this post will last all of thirty seconds because whatever crisis management team that school hired expertly and exquisitely managed to remove all utterance of this horrible, horrible thing from DCUM, and probably elsewhere. |
Oh, for heaven sakes. Now you’re just being ridiculous. https://www.baltimoresun.com/maryland/baltimore-county/bs-md-co-mcdonogh-letter-20190410-story.html |
If they’ve learned nothing because it’s still going that would indeed be horrible. |
