NP here. In real life, I've seen a lot of women with average to below-average faces being treated/regarded as beauties if they have nice bodies. Men seem most likely to accept average/below-average face + great body as beautiful. Add great hair to a plain face with a great body and most people will consider the woman beautiful. So it isn't unrealistic to me that Carrie attracted the men she did.

i don't think spj is attractive, but the hate she gets for her looks is off the charts, and i think there is some weird envy/gatekeeping in it -- like because she has the hair and the body, she scored some sort of unfair cheat card for not needing to have a pretty face. like george w bush getting admitted to yale because of his wealth and legacy, despite being dumb and a bad student. sorry folks -- this is how things land sometimes.

Carrie Bradshaw was never supposed to be a paragon of beauty.

Her character was more like a cute, fashionable, maybe mildly neurotic girl in NYC in the 90s that a lot of east coast women could totally relate to, and we loved to see what she would wear.
