Anyone here buy Macy's Furniture Protection Plan?

We know that generally speaking post-purchase warranties are not worth it but this one sounds like a good deal since it includes stains, punctures and stitching and you get your money back in the form of a credit in seven years (if you remember, I guess) towards other furniture. Has anyone bought it before and made a claim?

We did but very recently so haven't submitted a claim. Macy's has excellent customer service so I trust that if and when we have to submit a claim we'll have no trouble. The idea of a refund if you never use it was very, very appealing.

Yes, we bought it too and I never usually buy any type extended warranty plan. I still worry it seems too good to be true, but I don't think Macy's is going the way of Woodies, Hechts, or Garfinkles any time soon. I still miss Woodies!

We did and we used it. We had a weird mark on the table from something being placed on it. Either from the heat or liquid, I wasn't quite sure. They replaced the whole table. No questions asked. We've bought more furniture from them and sprang for the plan again.

Word of advice, if something happens, say it was your fault. That's covered. I wasn't sure exactly what made the mark on my table but I was pretty sure it was from something being placed on it. When the guy came out, he basically said it was better to just say I hit it with a hammer than to say I didn't know.

Ha ha this is interesting. We bought a sofa with the plan and I thought the sales guy said to say we didn't know what the stain was. He definitely said to say we hadn't used anything on it to remove the stain and it happened yesterday (you have to call within 3 days, I think).

Don't buy any furniture from Macys, it's junk. My leather sofa broke in a year and they didn't cover it!

I did for my couch. It got a tear in it and when I called they said that 'seams aren't covered '. So make sure you read the fine print.

I did when we bought our couch 10 years ago. We got one of those electric reclining couches. Within the warranty time frame, it stopped working and we filed a claim and they came out to replace some parts. I’m glad we had the warranty plan.

I brought the plan and I was told all was covered and if you don’t use you get credit after 5 years for another piece of furniture . Well after on month a friends dog chewed on couch arm and ottermen . I filed a claim , no one got back to me after one month followed up and sent them pictures only to be told it was tw incidents since it was two pieces of furniture , which was total B.S.. ow i have to appeal and you know how that will go , would never buy another warranty from macys .

We did this with Bassett where the sales person made it seem like wear and tear would be covered. We ended up with a ripped up couch thanks to kids and a pet and the company wouldn't cover it.

In addition, not sure if Macy's is similar, but the credit we got back still required us to spend double the credit. So for a $400 credit we had to spend $800.

I purchased the warranty for the sectional and 2 recliners I bought. I was told it was a no questions asked policy. Well my puppy dug a whole in the couch. They claimed it was fabric failure. Both motors on the power recliners went out. One won't open and the other is stuck in the recline position. They denied those claims too saying it was normal wear and tear... on furniture that is not even 3 years old.. The warranty company are cowards. Everything is online - you can not speak to anyone by phone. Never again will I buy Macys if they are going to associate with this type of warranty for their customers.

I did long ago when I bought my first couch. Couch got stained, and it had a lot of exclusions and they couldn't fix it. Most of these warranties are not easy to claim.

I would have slashed the whole arm and said I have a new tear

I think most are easy to claim if you are willing to go through arbitration or small claims court, but that's usually the only way to claim them. I've done it based on the brochure the sales guy gave us and won in small claims court despite fine print limitations
