Yes some people abuse the system and hold kids back but idk if it will be enough kids or care from ECNL when it aligns so perfectly with college recruiting.

Won't give up will you?

Your stupid held back player can play with kids their own age. You're not going to cheat your way into playing down for wins.

This was my first post? Which I guess we don’t know who says what. Just makes sense to go with grad year for ECNL. Also my kid will play up still next year because she can. You don’t know what you’re taking about. So stop projecting on people.

As long as we agree that held back kids are stupid and playing down for wins is cheating.

Held back or not, the new system won’t allow kids to play outside of their age group. You’re caught up on this graduation year stuff, which isn’t happening anyway. So relax.

I'm saying this so the private school parents hear it. They think nobody notices their 16 year old high school freshman.

We do and we think it's pathetic.

If they are autistic or have learning difficulties and were held back do you still think it’s pathetic? For you to judge people is really gross. You don’t know why a kid was held back. Most elite players actually leave school early. Anyone who hold a kid back because of sports is silly but to say no kid should be able to play their senior year is silly.
Should at least have it for U18-19.

You're completely welcome to play with players your own age.

This will never happen the parents that want their kid to play down for wins also know that their kid isn't any good. This is why they want to find a way to play down.

Join MLS and ask for biobanding. You can legally play down and beat 12 months younger players.

All signs seem to point to a change. I am not sure why there are still so many here who want to believe that "nothing has been decided"

-ECNL Podcast back in the summer
- Skip Gilbert all but confirming the change on his LinkedIN
- CST on twitter confirming this is all but done
- Numerous articles coming out suggesting the change
- US Soccer wanting "feedback" two weeks prior

It's because MLS and GA haven't commented.

It's also because there's all kinds of different ways US Soccer might decide on BY vs SY.

Cheating is not following the rules. Not meeting some strangers definition of fairness is not cheating.

In the rec soccer league my kid plays in the contract that parents sign doesn't mention anything about PEDs.

If PEDs aren't specifically called out as against the rules does this mean they're legal and allowed? (The answer is that PEDs are illegal and not allowed)

Playing down for wins is the same thing. Parents are trying to cheat by being bigger and faster than all the opponents.
Kids get prescribed growth hormones, this is not cheating. Some random parent is not the cheating police with mean glances and rumors, they are just garden variety judgemental.

The truth is starting to come out.

Not only do you want to cheat by playing down for wins you also feel like "growth hormones" are OK.

You of course are welcome to consider Messi a cheater but he followed the rules.

No, he's a cheater to.

If you really want to play the PEDs game think how much better all the top pros would be if they could take hgh and steroids. (Especially the women)

Hate to break it to you, but any person eating food in the US is taking growth hormones.

Ya, I'm going to keep saying it every time the private school GY idiots try to sneak into the conversation.

Yes, have seen it couple of times in MLSN games. There is one opponent in the same city as us. Last season's game was a tie. This season, we lost big. We heard them got a biobanding player who is very likely 14 to 15 months older than our player. What a shame.

Now imagine what you experienced but EVERY player is playing down 1 year and some are playing down 2 years.

This is what the GY parents want.

Your insecurities are creating a bogeyman which is leading to a self fulfilling prophecy as I now wholly support GY even though it is not being considered or has been proposed.

Grad year!!!! Let’s all spend 15-25K plus a year to hold are kids back so they can be slightly less terrible at a sport.

What if ECNL goes off school year cutoffs but allows biobanding for smaller less developed players? To say that’s cheating means MLSN having biobanding is cheating it’s literally the same exact thing. Which is already happening. Only difference is parents don’t have to hold kids back.

I’m not sure why you or anyone is having a problem with grad year? Unless it’s because ECNL girls don’t offer biobanding?

If you don't understand why this is an issue you're as stupid as your held back kid.
