Should I switch from Yahoo to Verizon email?

Anonymous
I've used Yahoo for 10 years. It's so easy, doesn't annoy me the way gmail does--until the most recent change last month!

Suddenly it's a mess, losing emails, freezing up, grouping all my emails in conversations. I send emails and they end up in trash or spam or drafts for some reason. This never happened before. I hate gmail because of all the datamining they do, but I guess Yahoo's gone that way too.

Does anyone have Verizon, and is it any better? I have a verizon email account that I've never used, but I'm thinking of starting the long, arduous switch over.

Will I end up just as frustrated? I don't use outlook or macmail (whatever you call that mail thing for macs, now that I really hate!), and Verizon seems like the old yahoo (until they change it of course). But I have thousands of emails in my Yahoo account, so switching seems like it's going to take a lot of effort, and I don't want to do it if Verizon is just as bad.

try the new hotmail.....it's outlook.com now. it's quite good and I think you will like it.

now if privacy is your main concern, that wouldn't exactly be the greatest email to use either but in terms of interface and smoothness, i think it is really good.

The problem w verizon is- what happens in 10 years when you switch to comcast, or whatever else. The email account doesn't survive the account termination

Yes, Yahoo sucks now.

To ungroup the emails, go into settings (the little gear icon) and select "viewing emails." Deselect the box for enabling grouping. Easy fix.

I am not planning on ever switching to Comcast! Wow, have I had a bad experience with them!

Has anyone actually used Verizon for email? If so, I'm curious what your experience is with it.

I'll look into outlook.com. Privacy is important, but I'm wondering if Verizon offers more privacy over the other "free" ones like gmail and yahoo -- anyone know?

I'm really tired of seeing all those ads for stuff I've searched on Target.com, Amazon, etc. pop up in my email. Does the same thing happen on Verizon? I imagine outlook.com has all those targeted ads too?

Thank you! This is such a PITA!! I hate those "conversations"!! I've been losing emails, getting confused when someone replies because Yahoo groups the new response under the old email subject and I can't see that it's a new email!!

Who is the brainiac behind all these worthless changes to Yahoo? Oh, and what happened to the tabs at the top where you could keep several emails open at once!?? I loved that feature of Yahoo! Good, now gone!

Bump...

Yahoo completely sucks now. Who runs that place?

I have a yahoo and a gmail account. I suggest you just switch slowly. I tell my closest friends to use my gmail and I am slowly expanding use of that account.

I don't trust yahoo anymore.

Marissa "anti-WAHM" Meyer.

she's an ex-googler..hence why yahoo under her tenure has become more 'googlish'....from mail, to changing their logo on yahoo!sites all the time, to their hiring policies

outlook has targeted ads as well but it isn't as bad as google.

another option could be your alumni email from your university?

that minimizes the marketing/targeted ad issue and also doesn't have the issue of losing your mails if you move ISP's.

Verizon takes data privacy very seriously.

Honestly, she could learn something from her days at Google. At least Google works.

Yes, that was a good feature. I wonder if they did any testing what so ever.

People still use yahoo? Wow.

People,
There are only 2 good choices:

1 if you like outlook use outlook/hotmail
2. If you don't, use gmail

Verizon is a pop3 service. No one should use that (by choice).
