| I don't know how it happened but I have become spoiled without realizing it, I grew up with maybe 2 coats- 1 winter (play) and 1 for spring and fall. Dd has 4 coats, a vest , and three hooded sweater/jackets. I have 5-6 winter coats, same amount- fall/spring coats. Tis the century of indulgence. How o Zi get off.. |
| My son has one good winter coat. And a fleece jacket. I try to keep a rain coat for him, but that is used so infrequently, he outgrows it before I replace it. |
| DD is 10 in 5th grade. She has a fleece thing I got on sale at Children's Place, an Army jacket type jacket from a shopowner near our home (it was her son's, years ago) and she also has a heavier coat that was given to her by a friend who wore it in kindergarten. So that's three. |
+1. I have 1 tweed winter coat, one black puffy long coat (used to live in the cold Midwest), one jacket for shoulder seasons, one rain coat. |
|
Kids have one coat each - which is made up of 2 parts, so they can use the lighter part only when it's not too hot and both parts when it's very cold. They are from Target.
I have 1 winter coat and 1 fall/spring jacket. Yes, I think you have bought too much for your DD. |
|
DD- one light sweat jacket. One heavier fleece. One winter coat. One raincoat that doubles as a windbreaker.
DS- one raincoat/windbreaker. One 3 in 1 coat (used fall/winter/early spring). Me- one raincoat/windbreaker. One fleece. One winter coat. One old fancy full length raincoat. One older full length winter will coat. |
| 1 winter coat, but he has a few jackets (eg, a windbreaker , a rain jacket , a lightweight jacket) of different weights (most of which he received from grandparents). He's 4, and so far we get 2 years ou of each winter coat and some jackets. |

Winter coat
Spring coat Fall coat Fleece Raincoat |
|
1 nice wool winter coat
1 all weather "play" winter coat 1 fleece 3-4 light jackets/sweaters |
| One winter parka, one fleece, one fleece vest. |
|
Dressy winter coat
Windbreaker/rain coat School/play coat (fleece lined nylon Hanna) the second two are HMDs. the first was a huge bargain. I don't do plastic slickers anymore because they are kind of gross and she outgrows them so fast. |
|
Two fleece jackets, one lighter "play" winter coat, two heavy "play" winter coats, one dressy coat, and one snowsuit.
I buy 2-3 per year, always up a size, so they last for two years. DD also gets a couple hand-me-downs, but not so reliably that I stop buying new. |
| PP here -- BTW, I have a lot of coats myself but some of them are a good 20 years old. a couple I got in high school so I'm not keen on wearing them for more than yard work. I also have a few random coats like a cool leather jacket I picked up on a trip to Argentina that I am not going to wear around again until I am pretty sure it won't get streams of spitup and boogers smeared on it. When my kids can get more than 1-2 seasons out of a coat, they can start collecting a few more too. |
|
My kids each have one winter jacket that comes apart (so it can be a fall/spring jacket too). It's from Target. I usually have an extra one size up in case they have a huge growth spurt or lose it at school.
They each have 3-4 fleeces to also where in the fall, but those are more sweaters. |
| My toddler daughter probably has a dozen little hoodies/sweaters/fleece things that we got as hand-me-downs and one winter coat I bought for this season. The fleeces are perfectly adequate for spring and fall - though she seems like to outgrow all of them quickly! |
