Head coach guy said 5 teams for u12 this year. Will see

The number od teams is based on the number of players they have in that year, not any sort of hard and fast rule.

Current u11 age group has five teams. So moving up to u12 next year, the teams stay the same size (9v9). So they should have five teams worth of players for u12 as well, unless they have a mass exodus of players. (Sounds like they might)

Sounds very low! They have five teams in that age group, so that would be around 60 current players.

U12 typically has four teams. U11 typically has five. The tryout was for U12

There's no typical rules or standards for Valor. Any given age year had as many teams as they can put together. 2014 boys had a lot of players and ---in a normal club--would be a large cohort moving up together.

I think the “mass exodus” can be a number of factors. Low hanging fruit is they no longer want to be part of Valor. But also, I think parents of lower tier teams quit if their son doesn’t make it to a higher team at that age.

Also the 3rd-5th teams get terrible coaches.

Apparently, they get no coaches.

Okay- but is he a decent coach?
That’s the bottom line- I couldn’t care less if he was a parent coach.

only looking at coaching - yes he is a decent coach

I'd have to argue against that.

3rd - 5th teams are usually terrible players more so than terrible coaches. I know. Parents of 3rd-5th teams will hate me for this.

Coaches of those teams have to try to focus more attention than they'd like on the weakest links, and that in itself takes away from the routines they would like to do. There's only so much they can do. I know the argument can be made that 3rd-5th teams are just money grabs for a club. But when you have kids who want to play travel, and you have parents who are willing to pay, are you going to deny them a starting point?

Are you saying that the coaches they hire in August are just amazing professional gems who haven't been snatched up yet?

They hire coaches with zero experience for those teams and then the coaches quit and leave after every season. Sometimes between fall and spring. They pay those coaches less than the gold team coaches also.

Why did the lowest team coach for boy u12 black quit after the fall season? Or was he fired? Does anyone know?

The U12 "lowest coach" referred to was "let go". Those parents were happy about it and things are much better now. (Source: their team manager)
Only one of the current U11 boys coaches is leaving Valor. He is a good coach and the kids were sad about it. He has been with younger boys for several years. He didn't say where he is going.
All coaches are young and inexperienced at some time in their career. It makes sense that they start at younger ages and lower teams. I don't think you'll find too many great coaches with 15 years of experience who want to take a U9 fourth team. That's just the reality. It does not mean that they don't know the game, it just means they're young.

Does Valor pay all the coaches equally or do the lower team coaches make less? Maybe that's why they can't find anyone to hire.

Do you work for Valor?

My friend's dc had a u15 Valor coach-2nd team- with no experience coaching. What's the excuse/reasoning for that one?
