Sorry mid lower level ECNL teams recruiters are not watching you either. |
They definitely are. You should check out some recruiting and commitment data. |
| All the best GA players leave every year for ECNL... all the serious players from GA know in order to continue to be successful they got to get over to ECNL, and buy the hat! |
sigh.. |
Whatever makes you feel better, just look at the local rankings from 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009 and 2008....its VDA, ARL and Unions, sprinkle in NVA (and ask all the NVA parents where they are playing next year, hint they are all leaving for Union, VDA and ARL)....so if your DD is truly "weighing" offers right now, tell us what age group and what GA team you are looking at...assume she is or would be a reserve player 15-18 on an ECNL team...not trying to hurt feelings but it is what it is! |
| All those clubs teams except VDA 09 and ARL 11s won’t be contenders if anything…..YAWN |
So who are the pretenders? |
^^Truth |
Not true, Ds team is usually in the lower end of the upper brackets as high as B and as low as E and have had major D1s come to games at showcases. We have had a few girls talking to those schools but none have committed, don't know if they had any offers or not though. They get between 20-40 coaches a game on average and it is a mix of mostly mid level D1s and upper level D2s and D3s. |
Coaches like to see you play against the best competition available which is why when you go to a specific schools ID clinic you'll see incoming freshmen and current players participating. They want to see how players stack up. If you go to an ID and get noticed they aren't going to blow you off simply because you play on a mid or lower level ECNL or GA team or that you play GA instead of ECNL. Getting noticed is key but so is showing interest. Not many players actually go to the schools sports page and sends in a player recruitment questionnaire which should be the first thing a player does to show interest in the school. Parents and players seem to think that recruitment just happens, that playing on a specific team in a specific league will get them noticed. Facts are these scouts are at games 20-40mins and may be taking notes on players on their list made from those that attended IDs and sent in the questionnaire. You might have a slim chance of doing something that gets noticed but don't count on it. |
| My daughter is on a 09 GA team. Non-Champions Cup/Non-Playoff qualifier. Has only played the showcase in Norco. Her club has a reputation of excellent coaching and development, and for producing quality players. In December we had US Soccer, USC, Kentucky, Iowa, Florida, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn State, Kansas, Arkansas, Illinois, Villanova, Eastern Michigan, UC SanDiego, Eastern KY, Marquette, Old Dominion, Cornell, DePaul, Pepperdine, attend our games. These are just the schools that I made note of. There were others as well. |
Well done! |
Happy for you, but if you an 09 player playing GA, in this region, you were likely let go or unhappy with playing time at union, Arlington, NVA or VDA...VAR is top GA in area, and just look at their roster...if your SYC, they are bottom of 09GA...again, not saying there are not really good GA players, but please just admit the competition is sooo much weaker than ECNL in the area... |
That’s awesome and thanks for the insight. |
So what you’re saying is GA is developing players while ECNL is simply poaching talent from other clubs? |
