Melamine found in Enfamil Lipil

Anonymous
And I JUST stopped nursing ny 11 mo completely yesterday (after the 10th or 11th time he bit, I couldn't take the pain/bleeding anymore) and now he is on...Enfamil Lipil (and has been supplemented with this since 3 months). Ugh.

It was not until the AP inquired about tests on domestic formula that the FDA articulated that while it couldn't set a safe exposure for infants, it would accept some melamine in formula — raising the question of whether the decision to accept very low concentrations was made only after traces were detected.

This is absolutely inexcusable. I do not have any infants who drink formula, but I know some who do, and this really really bugs. me. What the HE** is the FDA doing? Most formula fed babies drink NOTHING BUT formula -- and for the to say even trace amounts of contamination is OK -- is NOT OK with me, and I hope it isn't OK with any other mother in this country. Who exactly does the FDA work for again?

sorry rant over.

I urge every mom to get involved with momsrising.org -- they are working on the toxic toys issue and I cannot imagine that they won't be working on thiss issue -- they should.

This is out of control.

We just started weaning our 5 mo, and are using GoodStart. How crappy.

The NPR story suggests that several brands of formula contain traces of melamine.

I love how all of this has come out due to the Freedom of Information Act- meaning that these companies did NOT release this information voluntarily. Big surprise...

To any of you who just started weaning, go back to nursing. The longer you wait, the harder it is to regain your milk supply.

I have been nursing and supplementing with E.L. for my 2 mo since her birth This is awful!
