It's absolutely reasonable to want transparency about my child's coach, just as we value knowing who my child's teacher is at school. I also believe my child will grow socially and academically when their teacher has a strong reputation or positive feedback from other parents. The same principle applies to a soccer coach. Agree, you are paying $3000 for a product. The product is the professional coaching. Who pays without knowing what they are getting.

Product is also quality of peers. We pay without knowing the exact roster. Just saying.

Nope. People aren't paying 3k for the "quality of peers" on the 3rd, 4th, 5th level teams. They are paying for professional coaching.

With this much complaining on this thread why don’t you all just go to another club? You’re not happy with the product then get it somewhere else. It isn’t that hard.

I think some people don't want to go from a second team at Valor to a fourth team somewhere else... or some similar perceived downgrade. Or they are worried about timing of tryouts not matching up. If Valor wants a decision from them before other tryouts have finished or even started, they don't want to say no to Valor without having something else lined up. I feel for people in that situation.

This is 100% true. We know families that have turned down third team offers at bigger clubs to stay second team Valor. One of those third teams is 2 divisions higher than the Valor second team two parents claimed was a better team last summer while acting offended by the bigger club's this team offer they'd gotten.

What’s crazy is this isn’t just for lower level teams. Who’s to say they don’t still have to hire second team coaches? Without a list no one knows for sure. I don’t personally see a problem when a smaller club lists some coaches but then a TBD for the lowest team because they aren’t yet sure if they will form that last team. It is at least transparent and people can decide if they want to take a chance with that. With Valor right now you have a bunch of parents of second team players wondering if they even have a coach lined up let alone who it will be.

+1. I follow this thread for gossip and infotainment even though our kid has had a reasonably decent experience so far (only u9). To start tryouts without most of your coaches hired is terrible and unfair to your families and players. There are some coaches we would want to avoid! And if the guy is unknown maybe we would like to have a brief conversation or observe the coaches demeanor towards the kids during tryouts before commiting.
