The report, compiled by the Mobile Justice Team, part of the UK, EU and US-sponsored Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group (ACA), and was set up by international human rights law firm and foundation, Global Rights Compliance, in April 2022, and is led by world-renowned British Barrister, Wayne Jordash KC. Torture and sexual violence by Russian forces: At least 36 victims from the pool analyzed mentioned the use of electrocution during interrogations, often genital electrocution by Russian guards. Other victims mentioned threats of genital mutilation, and at least one victim was forced to witness the rape of another detainee by a foreign object covered in a condom."

Here's one thing in which Russian soldiers are actually seasoned and competent.

Lol whatever works, Abu Ghraib.

Every defense of Russia boils down to ‘whaddabout’. It’s so compelling.

It is exposing you as a hypocrite.

NP. Not really.

It’s exposing you as a propagandist, and a second-rate one at that.

You should travel more. Every time a non-American, non-European person hears American or European pontification about the evils of invading other countries or human rights, they roll their eyes. Very, very deeply. Almost disappearing into the skull.

DP...

Try having that conversation in parts of Africa and the developing world that will now be going hungry because Russia is directly targeting and destroying their food supply.

The only thing disappearing in your skull is your brain.

These conversations are being had and Africa is blaming sanctions, not Russia. That's because Africa is looking back at the century of strife, war and civilian victims on the continent that have been utterly ignored by the West. But now the West wants them to care about civilian victims somewhere else? What on earth for? To Africa, this is not their war and they resent any attempts to make them care.

The only reason sanctions happened are because of Putin. If Putin hadn't invaded, none of this would be happening. And, there was absolutely no good or legitimate reason for him to invade. It's all just Russian lies, and nothing else, all the way down.

There are often lies before invasions. Yesterday it was Colin Powell shaking his glass thing at the UN, or was it W Bush pretending Saddam was linked to 9/11? Today it's Putin. What else is new under the moon?

Lies or not, at least the U.S. got buy-in from the U.N. Russia didn't even try.

If Russia or China enter into an alliance with Mexico, and they start planning to open Russian or Chinese military bases at the US-Mexico border, the US will do everything in its power to stop it, including starting a war with Mexico. It's a matter of national security.

"Aggressors! Look how close to our military bases they have put their country!"

Oh! Oh! Oh! I know the answer to this one!

Perhaps it's because Russia has a history of invading it's neighbors?

Unlike the U.S., which prefers to invade many continents away?

Invading neighbors is so 20th century.

I would not be worried about collateral damage at this point. They have a total get out jail free card that Russia jammed their weapon and it hit a restaurant or office building or whatever.

That would be funny.

LOL honey the problem is they could do that, spend all their UAVs and Russia would still have a ton of stuff left.

But Russia is already running out. Of equipment, ammo, and especially people. It is so screwed.

But that’s what happens when you live in a hole for years and believe your own propaganda.

Yet it's a mystery why it hasn't been driven out yet. Why is that? According to you, it's an incompetent army that has run out of everything. How are they holding their land gains? With thoughts and prayers?

It has certainly proven itself to be incompetent. Three days to take Kyiv didn’t exactly come to fruition. Before Putin’s ill-advised invasion, there was general respect for the Russian armed forces. Turned out to be mistaken

And I think it will be driven out. It’s a very long line to defend and supply lines are distant. Matériel has not run out yet, but they’re scraping the barrel.

Maybe if Russia had similarly built a case that convinced other nations that invading Ukraine would be for the greater good of the world, they wouldn't have gotten sanctioned, either. But they didn't do that. So keep that in mind next time you want to cry about who gets sanctioned and who doesn't.

What? LOL no they did not.

“Of course it’s about oil; we can’t really deny that,” said Gen. John Abizaid, former head of U.S. Central Command and Military Operations in Iraq, in 2007. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan agreed, writing in his memoir, “I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil.” Then-Sen. and now Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel said the same in 2007: “People say we’re not fighting for oil. Of course we are.”

Anonymous wrote:"Nearly half of Ukrainians held in detention centers in Kherson by Russian forces were subjected to widespread torture including sexual violence, according to a new report published Wednesday.

The team’s work is primarily funded by the EU.

It was all the same to the Iraqis, you know.

Ok, but we're talking about who gets sanctioned and who doesn't.

So you’re crediting the US for being a better liar?

I'm crediting the US for getting UN buy-in. Russia didn't even bother.

With lies?

It turned out to be a lie, but people thought it was the truth at the time. Maybe if Russia had similarly built a case that convinced other nations that invading Ukraine would be for the greater good of the world, they wouldn't have gotten sanctioned, either. But they didn't do that. So keep that in mind next time you want to cry about who gets sanctioned and who doesn't.

Everybody knew it was a lie. The US never got buy-in from the UN. The US tried to get it but failed. The UN did not approve a resolution to go to war with Iraq.
Iraq war illegal, says Annan (UN Secretary-General) http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3661134.stm

Even US allies like France and Germany opposed the Iraq invasion.
China and Russia also opposed the war but were not willing to get into a confrontation with the US on Iraq.

I love it when the pro-Russian trolls shift the topic off Ukraine to Iraq, or Saudi Arabia, or whatever. It tells me they've not nothin'.

Actually, that's not too far off from their pocketbook as well.

"Russia's National Wealth Fund shrank to $148.4 billion as of January 1, down $38.1 billion in a month, as the government took out cash to plug its budget deficit"
https://www.businessinsider.in/policy/economy/news/the-kremlin-has-pumped-so-much-money-into-the-economy-that-its-creating-a-boom-but-this-house-of-cards-could-topple-anytime-soon/articleshow/102340793.cms

"The Kremlin has pumped so much money into the economy that it's creating a boom — but this house of cards could topple anytime soon"
"Putin is boosting the production of military equipment and raising pensions, salaries, and other benefits for people who are not well-off. The state is also subsidizing mortgages."
https://news.yahoo.com/kremlin-pumped-much-money-economy-093221238.html

It's like a hyper-inflation-based Ponzi scheme. For the Russian trolls who don't know what a variation of a Ponzi or pyramid scheme is, let me explain. If you're Putin and funnel billions of Rubles to your friends, then they take care of their friends with millions and so on. When hyperinflation hits, then the Billions gets bumped down to hundreds of millions, the millions to hundreds of thousands, etc. Putin's friends are fine. The only ones screwed are pensioners, exploited workers, proletariat. Marx would be rolling in his grave knowing that the siloviki are the new bourgeoisie.

No. Sanctions are happening because the West made the choice to sanction. There were tons of invasions before this one, and there will be others after it, all without sanctions. Don't pretend sanctions automatically follow invasions, that's a lie.

Sanctions didn't happen for no reason, idiot. Sanctions would not have happened if Putin hadn't invaded.
