| I was talking to a friend who is an alumnae of a "Big 3" and knowing my religious and political background she suggested that I give serious consideration to the culture of the school my kids attend. Her concern was that some schools might be a little to progressive and liberal. Having lived in NYC and San Francisco where my kids attended school and very liberal communities and don't have a problem since many of our friends in those cities lived different lifestyles than we live as a family. My concern is that schools might not want families of conservative backgrounds. I have friends with backgrounds similar to mine who attended or send their kids to Bullis, Landon and St. Albans and have had great experiences. I would like to know if people have any thoughts on other schools that might be more friendly, |
| You'd be fine at the Cathedral Schools, NPS, St. Patrick's and Landon. Also most of the privates in VA (Potomac, SSSA). |
|
Potomac, Madeira, Episcopal, Georgetown Prep, Gonzaga. These schools have at least a small conservative group and maybe more respect in each direction.
|
| I think you and your friend are overthinking things OP. Your kids go to school -- not you! No one really cares. |
| You'll be fine at St. Andrew's too -- a good balance. |
| The Heights or Oakcrest skew conservative. |
That's putting it mildly. |
| 13:00, My concern is that in the application process, admissions might feel that we might not feel comfortable in their respective community (code word for: they don't feel comfortable with me and my family in their community). |
| OP, I think you're overthinking. If you don't feel comfortable during the application process, then don't apply there. If it feels welcoming, then do. I'm very socially liberal and picked a school (named among the ones above) that seems very balanced/possibly skews conservative, but I'm not picking a school to get in a discussion over gay marriage or abortion with the parents, so I really don't see this as a problem. |

I went to ncs and still remember who the republicans were in my class.
they had friends but there was a bit of a stigma. |
| What? NCS has tons of conservatives. Pleaseeeee stop projecting. The only school I would think twice would be GDS..that seems really lib |
|
OP -- it's 13:00 again. They don't ask about your politics and they really don't care. They care about your child's grades and test scores and will analyze if they are a "fit". Don't presume your child or children will share your political views anyway.

| Lots of Republicans at Langley. Romney won the mock election in a landslide! |
| Love it!!!! |
