Private & Independent Schools
| Personally we're not the GDS or Sidwell type, where do the conservatives in DC send their kids to school? This excludes Catholic schools, I don't have anything against them per se but since we're not Catholic we most likely wont send our child to one. We live in DC. |
| You'll have to define conservative. Do you mean Republican? Landon is Republican. But maybe not Huckabee conservative. |
| In this case by conservative I mean Republican. |
| This is a question better asked within your own social and professional circles, truly. |
| How old is your child? I've heard norwood is fairly (though not consistently) republican. Landon & holton, and their (supposed) feeder school primary day. Also, in dc, I don't know much about it but I wouldn't shocked if Beauvoir, NCS, & St. Albans didn't have their fair share of Rs. |
| Oops -- pp here -- I "would" be shocked if those dc schools didn't have plenty of Rs. |

I'm not a R, far from it, but I'm disturbed by the way conservatives are treated in many local schools.
The Potomac School is predominantly Democratic, but it's a place where all political views are respected. I had friends who were high profile Rs, and they felt respect and appreciated there. There are plenty of Rs at Norwood, and the faculty is very respectful of political and other differences. The parent body is less interested in politics than at some closer in schools. I would have thought that STA would be a good place for Rs, but a very conservative friend tells me that this is not the case. Based on what I've heard from conservative friends at Sidwell and Maret, cross these schools of your list. GDS, too. |
Home schooling.

| So sad that admitting you are an "R" in this town is akin to saying you practice witchcraft. I wouldn't rule out the Catholic schools, OP. You might find some of them to be a great fit. |
| I think you'd be more comfortable with the schools further out of town: Landon, Holton, privates in northern VA. |
| OP here. One of the reasons why we aren't looking at Catholics is because we aren't very religious. How about National Presbyterian School? Do the Republican families in DC just pretend as if they don't exist? |
| Are you looking for boys, girls or co-ed schools? |
| Co-ed or boys in that order. |
|
The one and only big-time R. family I know sends their kids to Nat'l Presbyterian. they also liked Beauvoir.
I know for a fact they have their eye on St.A, but it's too early to tell if DS would get in, or when. |
