As if people with a brain trust anything any media says nowadays.

The best media lie was 4 weeks ago how Putin was downtrodden and failing his half a$$ed land grab (don’t call it an invasion).

He's lost 14 generals. He actually is doing terribly. Surprisingly both William and Putin have embodied the Emperor has no clothes mantra in living color.

Yes, it was a disaster. When the Sun agrees it was a disaster, it was a disaster. I realize this is incomprehensible to the utterly delusional Cambridge stan who can’t face reality here.

... You're comparing William to Putin. Really?

Whatever one thinks about the British Royal Family, the British press is the absolute worst!

Yet the end game is still a written treaty annexing significant cities and ports of Ukraine to Putin’s Russia. And African and the Baltics will continue to not take sides until he wins, and then curry favor to Putin in hopes for the best.uS mass media will continue to tell its proles what a success the last month has been and how the outcome was so inevitable we didn’t even talk about it publically.

The reality is that the UK and their royals still matter, while these little Caribbean islands are largely still considered third world outposts that outsiders use for beach vacations (largely holed up at luxury resorts where it’s safe). Most locals live in poverty. No wonder they have a chip on their shoulder. But at some point, they need to realize they’ve had independence and can only blame themselves for their current standard of living.

As a fellow American, I am ashamed of you. You think enslaving and colonizing a people, and stripping them of their best resources, is not going to have a lingering effect? They’ll just bounce back as soon as they have independence?

Exactly. Every white owner of something in jamaica, and everywhere frankly, needs to turn over all their land and assets to the black native Jamaicans to run and own and operate and profit from.
Just like when the French left Haiti. They left everything for the black and Spanish Haitians.

This is a joke right? When France left Haiti they charged them a huge amount for “reparations”.

As such, it’s not unusual that Will’s staff is white. That doesn’t mean he’s racist.

While London is the most diverse part of the UK, it’s barely 8% black.

That would be far more believable if they didn’t employ an American, Jason Knauf, for so long. They literally will look all over the world for the right white man.

This article says the tour was a success despite the few PR missteps which the media is fixating on…unsurprisingly since it’s the negative stuff that sells papers/draws clicks.

But don’t brush past the reality that this was an overall success. They performed well.

Newsweek had a positive review too.

We were there for spring break last week, read a variety or press sources and talked with people. Everyone is happy with them coming and happy that tourism is back. Only the DC-based activist group that paid for their spring break protest trip oped in WaPO and some other blog papers tried to conjur up their own agenda.

That said, Jamaicans can do their own cost/benefit analysis on what level of Uk support they want or don’t want.

Ironically Africans legally and voluntarily immigrating to jamaica the last 200 years has been very significant. As has Jamaicans legally migrating to USA.

“The bartenders at the pool at the Holiday Inn Montego Bay definitely nodded when I educated them about how well their charming Highnesses were doing in Jamaica. So glad I could teach the natives something about the British Royal Family even though I am American. They sure listened to me!

Go find the follow up posts acknowledging the obvious fact that history informs the future while pointing out the reality of Jamaica’s complicated history with the UK.

The Brits ended slave trading in Jamaica long before others. They effectively abolished slavery before the US. England left Jamaica and was essentially drawn back to invest in nation building, effectively bringing the rule of law while building the necessary infrastructure for a diverse economy. This was post-slavery. Without that investment, …

And, let’s not forget where Marcus Garvey went. Hint: it wasn’t Africa. He happily relocated to the UK.

Nobody is defending slavery. Did you miss Will’s speech?

Rather, some of us feel the Jamaican woman who shunned Kate looked bad. You don’t do that. It makes you look bad. Plus, blaming anybody in 2022 for slavery is just pointless.

DP: Ah, yet another apologist. If “blaming anybody in 2022 for slavery is just pointless “ then what was your little history lesson about the Brits intended to suggest? You’re trying to have it both ways and, yes, some of us notice.

?

The history lesson was meant to prompt reflection on the actual history as opposed to believing modern royals believe they are white overlords/white saviors holding court over black islanders…which is what some posters have indicated.

The reality is that the Brits were ahead of the curve in terms of ending slavery, and Jamaica benefitted from the UK’s investment in the island in post-slavery times. Jamaicans courted Britain to come back and invest in the island. They did. It helped. It was the right thing to do.

Ok! I’ll reflect on all of this — while I stare at the picture of William and Kate, in her pristine white lace dress, displaying themselves in the Rover.

And no, it’s not just me.

I’m befuddled as to how anyone can ascribe racism to a vintage Land Rover that was clearly employed by the young royals and their Jamaican hosts to pay homage to the ailing Queen and her 1953 visit.

The ranting of the woman in the linked article is just beyond. No clue how or why she thinks the car equates to whites demonstrating superiority to blacks. I mean, what?

Even American Republicans aren't stupid enough to show up in rural white towns and pose grinning with dogs, white klan gowns, and firehoses. That is essentially what he did by recreating that moment down to the car. If he wanted to honor the Queen - copykating colonial history is not the way to go.

If there was a brain cell between him and his dim bulb wife, one of them would have seen that. Or kept someone on staff who could.

But then again this is the couple that welcomed the first black President and First Lady of the United States of America into their living room with a picture of a slave in the background.

I'm with the first (hidden) PP. Riding in the old Land Rover was fine. It was obviousy a call-back to Elizabeth, which was the official reason for the visit. Not "colonial" or "klan" at all.

The Daily Mail is your reference of choice for “actual experts”? That’s ….interesting.

The locals also trotted out the chair of slaves on another tour of the Cambridges. Charles...smartly enough - declined the false throne while visiting the same country.

If you can't see the pattern here IDK what to tell you.

Williams either an idiot. Or a racist. Or both. Either is not good for the future head of state for even a mildly diverse society like the U.K. let alone completely majority minority countries he's supposed to show leadership to.
