D has played in the Champions Cup loser bracket when her team was invited. 30 plus coaches at each game. Some not top D1s but still some good schools. Even so, there are over 1000 NCAA womens programs, 360ish just in D1. They can't all recruit from the same 20 teams.

For the 19s, most aren't in 11th, they are in 12th and just graduated. Aside from a last shot at a national title why would anyone spend the money to go to CA again?

ECNL had to promote this year and try to bring in more RL teams. With a war of attrition the league who holds the most mid to upper level clubs will win in the end. ECNL had a monopoly as the only place but has lost 30-40% of their placements over the last 6 years. In the next 5 I'd bet on ECNL merging with GA under NWSLnext. I won't be around though, so have fun with that.

Very interesting, I was thinking a merger would be the end game here between ECNL and GA in a few years as well.

Why merge?

Once NWSL aligns with a youth league (most likely GA) all clubs in every other league will join the league NWSL aligned with.

The nwsl/ga link doesn’t exist and it’s weird that you keep bringing it up.
There's no need to merge.

22/23. 23/24 24/25
GA Winter (Dec) 148 156 136
Champions (march) 138 128 117
GA Spring (April) 118 96 54

YIKES!!!! that Spring decline

Dude, go look up the ECNL Spring that is also in North Carolina. There is a similar drop from last year to this year. It isn't just GA. Hint: Maybe there is something else going on with college recruiting that could be affecting both leagues?

ImYouthSoccer posts interesting data but know that it is biased in support of ECNL. Doesn't mean the data is wrong just that they cherry pick data that is good for ECNL and bad for GA. Requires some critical thinking.

wow. this are devastating numbers for the ga hats

ImYouthSoccer wears 3 ECNL hats at a time. Only "slighly" biased.

so you are disputing the numbers? why would they put out inaccurate numbers when you can go to the ecnl and ga websites and do your own count to verify?

the spring numbers for ecnl and ga will always be low the east coast teams are in the middle of high school season and the majority of club teams do not attend thus the basis for low college turnout. compare that to Arizona Spring with a great turnout of coaches and teams on the west coast. a lot of east coast ECNL teams don't even play in the Spring because High school starts in February.

I think you're right. The one thing notable is that the transfer portal was flooded with entrants this year. I'm wondering if some colleges (it wouldn't take a lot) focused more on filling spots from transfers as opposed to incoming freshmen. No need to attend as many showcases. A Mid major or P4 player with minutes and stats is proven, and there's no longer this expectation that they will be around for the full 4 years. So "if" that's the case you would expect the sharpest drop off in D1 attendance at the GA spring event which is a recruiting event tailored for a different market than Champions Cup and other higher level competitions. Would be interesting to see if there was also a similar drop off rate for D2/3 coaches at the spring event.

wrong. the ECNL Spring in North Carolina, really its in the Summer, has had an increase. not much of an increase over the last 2 years but it has increased. lets see what the numbers are in June after its finished.

You are wrong. The east coast north of Virginia has high school soccer in the fall. Arizona Spring had a lot of non-east coast teams. So the turnout was to evaluate players outside of the east coast. Coaches have more time in the spring to attend events because College soccer is not as active.

so you are disputing the numbers? why would they put out inaccurate numbers when you can go to the ecnl and ga websites and do your own count to verify?

Not disputing the numbers. Just that they cherry pick numbers that are bad for GA when there are similar numbers for ECNL that they conveniently don't mention.

For example, the post above used these numbers to draw attention to GA Spring's falling numbers

22/23. 23/24 24/25
GA Spring (April) 118 96 54
YIKES!!!! that Spring decline

These numbers are accurate. GA's D1 college attendance dropped 43%. But what they conveniently don't tell you is that ECNL Spring north carolina also dropped a lot, maybe more. ECNL NC Spring (May) 2024 had 179. ECNL NC Spring (May) 2025 has 46 signed up so far. YIKES!!! ECNL attendance dropped 74%!!! Yes, it's more than a month away so more colleges will be added. But it's still likely to be far less than last years just like GA's.
