25 players is A LOT!

Ask you coach. No need for gossip here.

So players that got offered SYC 2nd team would prefer to stay in FVU 1st team?
What are pros and cons about that?

So players got offered SYC 2nd team vs FVU 1st team? I'd stay with the FVU. At least competition during training will be better than SYC 2nd team. That's an insult if that happened.

I suppose… but I could see SYC 2nd teams being more competitive than FVU at some age groups. It would be tough to choose a 1st team (ECNL) vs a possible stronger 2nd team (National Academy)

This is on the girls side? How much of an SYC homer are you to think SYC all of a sudden has become so strong with players that didn’t make the ECNL cut taking first team SYC offers. And now their second teams are somehow better than FVU first teams?

The point is to get and idea of how many players will be selected per team in the many age groups. Is it normal to select 18 players per ECNL team? or do other age groups select more?

And this isn’t that hard to figure out if you are familiar with your own team and your own age group. Kids and parents talk and they know people on both Union and Brave. So you do the math. The club might be telling you a roster of 18-22, but you count 22 or 23 confirmed just from people you know or your friends know and you have heard some kids have committed from outside these clubs too.

I’m a parent of a player who belongs on the team but definitely isn’t top 5. I’m concerned they are taking everyone and telling us all roster sizes will be kept in check and we will have opportunity for playing time. It seems disingenuous at best. I am guessing at least 25 for our age group. Please just be honest so we can make the right choice. We like the kids and parents but also want a good experience for my DD next year.

Also, when will FVU disclose rosters? Or is this something one could ask? to get an idea of how the team is shaping up.

This situation is common across all clubs at this time of year. You can only cobble together a roster based on people sharing what they know.

Most people never know the full picture until the first summer practices.

So coaches don’t disclose the players that accepted so far just to give an idea of the rosters? Is that the case?
FVU is a new merge, so I think some idea of the roster would be good.

Check roster size. Confirmed.

At MYS town hall it was stated that the posted sizes are minimums and final count will be coaches discretion. So beware you could end up "on the team" but then several players may not dress every game. If that were my player I would probably wish we had made a difference choice. Even worse if you are expected to travel to NC and not play.

No, they won't.

Once those rejections get sent….

It will easily get to 300 pages

With how many families are pissed off, I would agree.

Looks like a big preference was given to existing players and huge rosters in the girls side.

How do you know this?

After the final ID Session for the 2010 boys, the person leading the session clearly stated that he wanted to keep and develop the current Brave and Union players.

But the Union players aren't very good. Perhaps 1-2 players only, otherwise it will be the Brave team

Look for mclean to offer silver and gold teams to accommodate the players cascading down from union.

I'm worried it will be more than several.

I don't think rosters will be huge. Many rejections for each team.

There is still time to go to other places to try out.

They must be talking about the boys side. Even the trolls know better than to make this claim for girls.
