DHS Secretary and Climate Czar announced.

Jake Sullivan? He couldn’t get Hillary across the finish line and is a certified Russia hoaxer.
So glad to see the swamp filling back in.
Yay democracy!

Trump's "ties" to Russia are well documented. There is a lot that has been reported and documented, but never investigated. Sorry, you aren't out of the woods yet. Not even close. Why do you thimk Trump is so nervous all the time?

More intelligence and competence confirmed.

Yes, Axios says likely Blinken, will not be Rice.

It was never going to be Rice. I don't know how many times that needs to be said.

Is she getting anything in this Administration? Defense is still open. Not much left for someone of Amb. Rice's stature.

John Kerry?? He would not be in my top 50 for climate czar.
He’s prominent and well known but old and has not been deeply involved in climate change work

IMHO you don't need an activist or a scientist as the head of U.S. Climate Change policy. You need a politician who can make alliances both abroad and domestically between parties to get legislation passed.

He has apparently been leading an international organization focused on addressing climate change for the past year.

Kerry's got a big task. His first issue will probably be re-signing us to the Paris Accords.

Trump also dropped the ball with DOS so the new SecState will be busy papering over all the inaccuracies and insults he raised with practically every country in the world except North Korea and Russia.

The folks over at Fox are losing their minds about Kerry. Can someone school me on why he might not be approved?

Trump also took us out of WHO, the United Nations Human Rights Council, the U.N. itself, JCPOA, the INF Treaty and I swear he managed to threaten NATO sometime in like 2017/2018.

Agreed, it is a diplomatic position. Also, Kerry worked to negotiate the Paris Agreement when he was Sec of State.

Barely heard of this. Stars and pols without any specific policies. $500k.

I’m not sure why Biden would pull Kerry out of retirement for this extremely important position.

John Kerry has been a scape goat of the right-wing media for decades. It started (or really ramped up) when he was the democratic nominee in 2004. This book was published that said that Kerry lied about aspects of his service and would be an unfit president. The right took it and ran with it, saying he is a traitor to the country and unpatriotic. The book ended up being BS. Then when he became Secretary of State, he became emblematic of all the "bad, soft" policies of Obama, whether it be the Iran deal or the Paris Agreement.

Like Hilary, he is just a figure that the right bashes on because it excites their viewers. He represents the "deep state" and the "democratic establishment", or whatever conspiracy they are spewing.

His position is not Senate confirmed, but if it was, he would easily pass through the Senate. Most of the republican senators are spineless, but they have at least a little respect for John Kerry. Especially when he served in the Senate for thirty years.
