I sure hope so. As a Michigan native, the role MSU played in this really angers me. So many chances to stop him- it’s not surprising to me that college-aged women were more likely to recognize his actions as abuse (vs. the younger girls) but their complaints were repeatedly ignored. A sham investigation in 2014 cleared him of wrongdoing. WTF!

I watched a few of the statements, but this one in particular brought me to tears- I really hope meaningful change happens. No one should have to go through this.

Holy $hit. I had not seen her testimony.

Holy Shit is exactly right! This is astounding.

Fox Sports has not reported on this story even once.

Two years ago they finalized a 15-year agreement reportedly worth more than $150-million with Michigan State for the school’s multimedia rights.

Joan Ryan wrote that book. Here’s her take from last week on the Larry Nassar developments:

Her book includes the elite figure skating industry.
WTF!?!

I'm interested to hear from other top gymnasts and their gymnastics programs. Like Chow- wasn't he known for being much more supportive and empathetic than other gyms? Didn't Shawn Johnson have a more normal upbringing than most? And did they avoid this abuse somehow?

I know. Controversial but it’s easy for MDs to feast on. These are the rejects from MD programs. Painful but true.

How is our US Olympic Committee calling them doctors?

The article articulates the frequently said mantra of "trust your gut", but children are typically taught that they must produce unrefutable evidence before they'll be believed. How often has mom said, "I don't feel right" about a daycare or sitter, and dad replies "well, they seem fine to me"? Yes, women are usually more intuitive than men.

How often do we see on other threads, "something just doesn't seem right about this", and posters bombard the op asking for hardcore evidence before you report to the authorities? It's not our job to conduct the investigation. That's what the authorities do. Our job is to always report suspicions. If the authorities can't find an issue, fine. We can use different avenues of reporting if it seems necessary.

Let's all make sure our children understand this.
They need to hear this loud and clear on a REGULAR basis.
They need to know how to help a friend in trouble.
"Keep your mouth shut" or "mind your own business"
is the WRONG message.

Yeah I’ve been wondering if some of the other top gymnasts haven’t come forward because they don’t want to for whatever reason or if they actually weren’t abused. I’m not sure if anyone from Chow’s gym or WOGA has come forward? Abusers sometimes prey on the most vulnerable, and you could see him targeting gymnasts like Mattie Larson, McKayla Maroney, and Jordyn Weiber for instance in part because they had really mean coaches (and part of his schtick was playing the “good” guy). But then I always got the impression that Simone Biles had a really stable coaching situation and family, so who knows.

They never should have been allowed to coach in the US or become this powerful. It’s sick.
