There isn't enough parking. The streets immediately east and west of Wisconsin are going to get screwed.

Anyone have Mary Cheh's phone number? She's the one who chose the site for the shelter, without talking with the police department and without any public process. She owns this tar baby.

Say what now?

Crickets? PP uses a racial slur and everyone just carries on? Disgusting. But not surprising in Ward 3.

There is a button to report anything offensive. Please do. I do so regularly.

Not exactly correct. See Time magazine:

I noticed that the term is debatable as well, but if PP is offended there is a mechanism for reporting.

Will DC provide school bus service to get the children living in the shelter to and from their 'home' schools?

Of course not. They will attend Eaton Deal or Wilson and then stay on. Next question, since it was all important for the residents to be near metro and bus-will they be required to be enrolled in a job or training program and to save money? Details please.

Isn't the shelter to be temporary housing for up to 6 months? How can kids stay on through Wilson?

I would imagine they would stay on through the feeder and have the right to continue. Do you think DCPS will rip a child out of a school after 6 months? Do you also think 6 months is realistic? What exactly is being provided /asked so the family is "on their feet" in 6 months? Independence doesn't just happen. What is the program being offered in this total "wrap around" shelter?

The DC government said that residents will transition to permanent housing within 6 months of arriving at the temporary shelter. You doubt that?

So if residents really do rotate through the shelter, it becomes an one-way gateway for more and more students to enter the Wilson cluster. What genius thought that up, in an already overcrowded feeder pattern?

In Logan Circle, the shelter residents would commit crimes against the people in the surrounding neighborhood. It was not uncommon to see a resident defacating in a public
trash can or on the sidewalk. Is anyone concerned that may happen with the Shelter in Ward 3?

Maybe the Second District will keep a lid on things.

I do feel bad for residents who live within a block or so of the new shelter. They may put up with various impacts and their property values could suffer also. I noticed that many of those who got on their high horse about social justice and every ward 'sharing the burden' themselves live a mile or two away from the site. It's always easy to volunteer someone else to deal with the problem.

I thought the shelter residents would be primarily for single parent families with children experiencing homelessness not violent parolees.

It’s a big country and those residents ain’t dirt poor. Plenty of places to move if they’re that shook by the idea.

People work all of their lives to get AWAY from the poors and their propensity for violence, criminality and indolence. And Chey sticks a shelter for the poors right next to them.
