New Ward 3 Homeless Families Shelter Site

A group of neighbors has been in contact with Friendship Place to determine how they can best support families at the new shelter, which is expected to open in a couple of weeks. For more information, go to: https://www.neighborsofthebrooks.org/howtohelp

If children are allowed to remain in the local schools even after their families move out of the shelter (a big if, as DC still has no transitional plans), then John Eaton over time could be 1/3 at risk kids. What is DCPS plan to add specialized teachers and our resources to deal with these added needs and burdens?

the plan is waving hands manically and asserting that kids needing more services will not go to Eaton.

If the kids have the right to stay in the school with a guaranteed pipeline all the way to Wilson, I don’t know what value DCPS’s assertions are.

I’m sure that the mayor is on it.

Wasn't the ribbon cutting supposed to be three weeks ago? Are there not families already in Friendship Place? The construction updates have said that the ribbon cutting was last week of March.

Mayor Bowser has said that she will have announcement soon on when the official shelter opening will be announced.

Bowser is simply a bozo. She opens her mouth and says things yet says nothing of substance or consequence.
