My dad was a civil rights lawyer & always planned to name his firstborn son Atticus. Thankfully he ended up with 4 daughters (&,no, none of us are named either Harper or Scout).He had to settle for naming the family cat Atticus but even that was short-lived as I, being not quite two when we got him, insisted on calling our new pet "Atticat". The rest of family quickly followed suit &,much to my dad's chagrin, it stuck. So if you do end up using Atticus (even as a middle name), know that there is a retired civil rights lawyer out there who wholeheartedly supports your choice!
