For the curious DCUM folks, although something is telling me this synopsis is unnecessary, given the overall level of posters' education:
Many Sunnis view Shia Muslims with varying degrees of distrust, from considering them mildly misguided to casting them outside the fold of Islam. At the extreme end of this is the Wahhabi ideology fueled by the Al-Saud that spends millions of dollars annually to spread it across the globe. This virulent strain calls Shia Muslims "rafidah", i.e. "those who reject", referring to the Shias' original rejection of Abu Bakr as the first caliph - a post they think should have gone to Ali as the prophet's only surviving male relative. Radical Sunnis reserve a special kind of hatred for the Shia, more so than for Christians and Jews who can be tolerated, vs. the Shia who have to be simply killed. You can see this virulent strain in the actions of ISIS and every other extreme Sunni group worldwide. Any time you see someone say something like "Shias aren't real Muslims", know this: you are talking to someone who is only cosmetically different from the ISIS ideologues. |
^ But of course many Sunnis also do not discriminate against Shias or view these labels as significant. The Quran clearly states that Muslims should not split into sects. Any attempts to spread division, prejudice, and hatred are misguided and singul. |
Of course, many don't. The disdain of radical Sunnis toward the Shia would have been a non-issue if the Sunni dictatorships didn't subscribe to the "rafidah dogs" ideology AND didn't have the money to spread if worldwide. You can see it in the Sunni attacks against the Shia mosques and shrines (which Wahhabi Sunnis would very much like to see disappear). You can see it in the Taliban massacres of the Hazaras. You can see in in the Al-Khalifa's oppression of Shia - who happen to be the majority group in that country, yet remain disenfranchised. You can see it in the virulent, intolerant policies of Al-Saud toward their populace (not a single Shia general, diplomat, cabinet post holder). So when you see a dimwit spewing something like "Shia aren't real Muslims" - don't just think he's an idiot. Know what ideology you're dealing with, and know what it has wreaked upon the countries it entered. |
Either you pretend to not know what that poster was try to communicating or you are mocking him. It's very obvious he was saying that in Islam men are deemed the protectors of women and women are predominantly responsible for maintaining the home. What kind of ass mocks a poster who is likely an immigrant or does not have a strong command of the English language? Spend time focusing on his point rather than mocking him for communicating funny. Even my 10 year old knows not to mock people for the way they communicate. |
I'll spend time on what I see fit, and I have no interest in resembling your 10-year old (I think you were supposed to consult him or her on your math issue - what is greater, 25 thousand or a hundred thousand?). A ridiculous post is fair game for mocking, and I mocked it. I will continue this policy. |
There are also more than 181,000 child brides in Turkey. http://www.radikal.com.tr/turkiye/turkiyede_181_bin_cocuk_gelin_var-1108338 |
Are they? So where are your angry responses to "Shia are non-Muslims" and "don't trust a Sufi" comments? |
It is painfully obvious you were picked last in elementary school, and thus you have to pick on people for petty reasons. |
I didn't see them, tbh. |

Different poster. I just read posts from the guy you're defending, and it looks like he's mocked shias, sufis and American women (aka sluts who don't deserve a Muslim man's respect). Yet, your problem is with the poster who mocked the English of the guy who trashed shias, sufis and American women. You apparently don't have a problem with the guy who actually trashed shias, sufis and American women. Huh? Your patronizing defense of this guy is particularly rich given the gazillion times you've called people Christian-islamophobe-crusader-evangelical gap-toothed Pakistani grannies in mini-skirts with drug- and porn-addicted kids. For having a different opinion than you. |

Wonder if self-righteous PP has taught her son not to call people Christian-islamophobe-crusader-evangelical gap-toothed Pakistani grannies in mini-skirts with drug- and porn-addicted kids. |

It's a tricky situation as is anyone who has unlawful sexual intercourse (Sex out of wedlock). He is in the wrong, he knows it but he meant that to say, he holds Muslim women in much higher regard, they're the foundation of a successful household and ruining her future life would have a much greater effect on more people in the long run, but on the other hand he knows most (I'm not saying you in particular) women are able to have relations and eventually Boone back and go on with their lives like nothing happened. We should all be guarding our private parts from anyone who isn't our legitimate spouse, but that's what he meant.. We hold our women in a much higher regard than non Muslim men
You are SO inviting a shitstorm with comments like this.
Makes me think this poster, at least, has never lived in a western country
Here's the post in question. Thanks, 11/10 @2:15 for your sympathy for what you think might be his "immigrant" status, together with your charitable "translation" along the lines of "he said men are the protectors of women." But, I think the rest of us are capable of reading his words at their face value. |
