Yea , from what I have heard from a friend on the MnD 2034 team those girls have been delt a tough hand this year. Not much consistent coaching support, many practices with one coach or even parents jumping in. Apparently two moms helped run the winter sessions and they are just going to totally start over maybe, which is pretty crappy of the program. It surprises me because I feel like the MnD director truly values the kids and what is most surprising is they are now apparently rostering like 4-5 Broadneck girls for the next summer tournament, without even mentioning it to the current families. A parent took a look at the waivers and saw they had added all these players. It makes everyone a little upset, you have families spending money on hotels and travel etc. and now the subs will see even less field time. I guess that is just the main focus of a club like MnD , I mean they will want to win at all costs, but it is surprising the director is allowing it to happen. I get needing to reshuffle but at least put some support into the current roster.
That is pretty crappy, but not surprising from M&D. To the poster who said they will be fine later on. Yes, they probably will but the players who were on these teams "early" hoping to ride it out are likely the ones who will be replaced and then either be stuck on their Red team or try to get on somewhere else on an already established team.
Yea agree -that is totally crappy for the current roster . I mean I do get that they need to shift etc. but wait for try outs, those girls have paid and stuck it out for 10 months. It is really not fair to them and on top of it they are what .. 10 years old. I agree I would have expected more from the director, from what I have heard she really is good.
The director is good. May be more to this. You can’t take 5 girls from another club if your tournament roster is already at 21/22. I agree it feels bad for kids and parents to get a sense that they are bringing in better players. It’s the reality and we as parents need to help kids with how to think of this. Or there is an alternative—families can get a different experience by ensuring their daughter joins a team where she is the best 10% of kids on the team. Downsides to that approach too, obviously. |

And as HOT as it usually is at that tournament - trust me - they’ll be glad to have subs. Also, to PP poster, why on earth would you just assume that players who are on this M&D team early on are going to be the ones being replaced and sent to red? This makes me think you’re not actually a parent of a child on the team because most parents on these forums think their children are the best. Have them do wall ball for 20 minutes a day if you’re worried - and if you can afford it, you live in an area where you have access to some of the best trainers out there - if you’re kid puts the work in, they’ll be fine. |
| HOCO enters the room. I do think that Hero’s & HOCO 2033 & 2035 are splitting the talent where I think 2034 got more of the talent. Wish they could figure that out. They would be powerhouses if they combined. |

I assume there are 2 goalies so that’s 16 field players. This roster is way too small for playing in what ends up being a very long tournament if you make the playoffs in possibly 90 degree heat. Regardless of how good the additions are - they need them, and it’s not like they have a B team to pull from. |
Here's a list of M&D players on national championship teams from the past five years (vs other top teams): NW 2026 Skywalkers 3 M&D 0 Capital 1 Hero's 0 UNC 2025 Skywalkers 1 M&D 1 Capital 1 Hero's 0 BC 2024 Skywalkers 0 M&D 2 Capital 1 Hero's 0 NW 2023 Skywalkers 1 M&D 0 Capital 0 Hero's 0 UNC 2022 Skywalkers 7 M&D 1 Capital 1 Hero’s 1 Total number of players on national championship teams over past 5 years: Skywalkers = 12 M&D = 4 Capital = 4 Hero's = 1 |
| So fun to sit and read with Pop Corn. M&D seems like a bully. Struggling now at the lower ages and trying to bully everyone around. No thank you. Even if my kid was the most talented, teaching them to play for a club with morals seems more important than what happens at M&D. Spreading lies, paying 5th graders tuition to get them to leave their teams, nope nope nope. What is happening? Try to justify all you want. Your 1,000 commits 10 years ago isn’t impressive anymore. I just saw CheckHers post something like “you can get there from here.” That kind of environment just seems much better. Recruiting coaches will tell you, you can get there from anywhere. Don’t fall for the sales pitch. |
Lol, good work detective, but I was talking about NGLL national championships. But I will put the m&d alumni college resume up against whoever, why don’t you post the #of D1 recruits from HOCO? I would be willing to bet the M&D has had more D1 all americans than HOCO had total D1 players. |
The reason for the split in talent between Hoco and Hero's is there are alot of people within the area who do not care for the Hoco coaches. If the coaches were different I do believe alot of those girls would play together and make a beast of a team. |
I would assume for some parents its a matter of play time. If your child is on a winning A team and not playing alot they may chose to move. Some teams will only develop their top girls and other teams will try and develop the whole team. If you an go to another team and play more/build your skill more then why not. |
It was stated that the Hoco 33 & 34 coaches/teams were looking to switch to M&D but they turned them down due to reputation of the coaches. How true that is who knows but the lacrosse world is small and word travels fast. |
Hahaha, no one from the m&d program is here bullying people, and they don’t need to bully in the real world. Apparently people do care about m&d still, the 2027 black team has 19 D1 commits. And we are not talking about schools no one has heard of, it’s florida, princeton, navy, bc, etc. I almost spit out my coffee when you compared checkhers elite to m&d, that was wild. Don’t worry though, m&d black probably isn’t coming after your girls. |
Unfortunately there are alot of teams like this. If you ever watch some of these teams some girls never leave the field and others only get 5min all game. Which is insane at 10. If you build your whole team no matter who you put on that field it will be equal. Winning is amazing but realistically only so many teams can win. If you look at alot of the scores of these games the top teams are losing and winning within a point or two (excluding hoco). So it is a pretty even playing field for these girls. It just who comes out on top in the final seconds. But yes M&D had a rough go this year BUT there are alot of girls out there who want to play and can play amazingly. With teams starting to have established teams breaking through to an A team can be hard. There are alot of B team girls who are amazing and could easily switch to play M&D to play on an A team. |

I think you got it twisted. HOCO families didn’t want to play for Hero’s.
And no one wants to go to M&D as to why they had to offer to pay peoples dues. HOCO Coaches are why people are staying and not going to the lower ranked M&D lower teams. |
| Keep spreading your lies. Helps the rest of us out. Hahahaha. |
