That 9inch key! |
I bet she's so bothered because of the Matty connection too. That's unfortunate. Its like the popular girl next door fighting with the popular bad girl crew. Again I don't see how she could do all of that for someone like Matty. |
| It’s not a good album. Nothing memorable at all and some downright bad/embarrassing. Her tortured pets one was better and that only has a couple good songs. |
Haha the eat cigarettes for breakfast look is exactly how I see this crew. I tried to be part of a cool group and was the outsider. So I understand how Taylor feels. The only difference is I was a freshman in high school. She needs to grow up a bit. The way to show you truly don’t care is to ignore something. Like Matty has done since he broke up with Taylor. |
| I don't follow the ins and outs of her life, but she's engaged to someone else? Why is she still talking about this other guy and his friends. |
To be fair charli and taylor were friendly at one point so she probably feels betrayed on some level but context matters. Charli's husband is in Matty (her ex) music group. She was always going to side with Matty and I am sure did say something since the Matty/Taylor break up was bad. Imo she's just still upset about the Matty situation and transferring that anger to Charli. It's a childish song because it's a childish fight |

Mostly skips for this Swiftie, but I like Ophelia, Elizabeth Taylor, the title track, and Father Figure.
Can someone help me decide whether Father Figure has a perspective switch? Does the father figure crush the protege at the end (all one narrator), or is there a perspective switch to the protege either when the chorus lyrics change slightly (“WE drank,” “THIS devil”) or at the key change (“Whose picture’s on the mantel?”) She could have made it very obvious with a change to “you were my father figure” if a perspective change was intended, but she might have left it ambiguous on purpose. If it’s inspired by Borchetta, the protege winning out makes sense, but I kind of prefer the darker ending with the father figure winning. It’s more interesting. |
What don’t you see? She was in love with him for most of her adult life. Has admitted so in a million songs. He inspired her, kept her going all those late nights. Encouraged her to speak up and engage in political discussions. Set her sheets ablaze. Introduced her to old bands, retro films and classic texts. He was one epic muse and a tease too: “I’m better at writing was just a way to get you biting.” They toyed with each other like this over the years, and their fans got to enjoy all those great songs and albums that were created in the process. Matty Healy is the loss of Taylor’s life and not necessarily in just a romantic sense. |
| She is so not over him. |
He looks like he doesn't shower and looks like he is high 24/7. I don't find it attractive but I guess one would if they like bad boys. |
I don’t get the no shower comment. I suppose people with curly hair can appear dirty depending on how they style their curls, esp if you use gel or walk out on stage with wet hair. To me he just looks tired and sad these days, like his spark is gone. Very different from 2022-2023 Matty when he was hooking up with Taylor and doing those coy proclamations of love on stage in Malaysia, Australia etc. I am curious about his band’s next album. The last one was awesome, but those were peak Taylor months and songs. |
| The album is exactly what she said it would be, a look behind the curtain during her eras tour. In that time she had her heart broken by Matty and saved by Travis. Lorde had her Brat summer. Sabrina took over. Controversy surrounding Blake and Brittany. Everybody left Scooter. She got her masters back. What am I forgetting or mixing up? I don’t think any of this album is meant to be punching down. It’s just her life for the past few years set to a more upbeat tempo. It’s not my favorite but after a few listens there are no skips for me. |
She’s not she’s talking about one girl. One girl who’s been talking shit about her when Taylor had no beef the other direction. Did you actually listen to the song. |
Exactly this. |
