How many times can a shark be jumped?

UC Davis is an excellent, all around school, with a charming college town setting, without toxic, competitive students.

In California, it is considered too far from the coast, from the mountains, from SF, even though it would be considered close to them if it were on the east coast.

Davis is a great school. Better than many overpriced privates like wake, emory, and georgetown.

UC Davis-
1160- 1370/25-31
Emory
1470-1550/32-35
Georgetown
1390-1550/30-35

UC Davis is overrated, Emory and GU underrated.

Yes, especially when you normalize Georgetown’s test scores further (tests required, no super scores). Notre Dame continues to underrated as well.

Chicago and Hopkins are T10 oddballs. I’ve never met a kid who dreams of going to either.

you bitter. get over it

Different poster. He's not wrong. They're the only top10 schools that have ED2.
The only reason to have ED2 is to get a second shot at top students who didn't choose you ED1.

Kind of a dumb take. No one EDs to brown, dartmouth, cornell, etc as a dream school. It's because they didn't feel as confident going for HYPSM. I think it's smart to offer ED2. Most people who end up at lower top 10s had bigger dreams but landed at a solid backup.

huh? Countless people ED to each of these as their absolute dream school. My kid did. They had the stats for any school on the planet and ZERO desire to attend HYP. Can you step away from your prestige and ranking whore mindset for 10 seconds?

Incredibly stupid. People ED to CMU, Emory, Cornell, Dartmouth, Columbia etc. You're telling me if they were handed an acceptance letter from Stanford or Harvard, they would turn it down? How about you step away from delusion.

Now do cost of tution and average salary compared to Emory and GU, the stats that really matter. Especially UC Davis engineering vs the latter two.

#51-56 William and Mary, Wake Forest
#57 UC Merced, 90% admit rate.

Now you do that comparison to Georgia Tech, which shares the #32 ranking with Davis.

Both fine schools who have similar salaries for engineering.

Emory is tuition free for families under 200k, also Emory and GU dont have engineering schools so thats not a fair comparison.

How about this? You send your kid to the 5th (6th? 7th? - Cal Poly is way better for engineering) best state school in California, and I will send my kid to Georgia Tech!

Where do you get this from? UC Davis has not accepted SAT scores for 4 years so this is just not accurate.

College board and they do take test scores for placement, just not admissions.

About the same? Did Bowdoin and Pomona swap spots?

Middlebury had a huge jump. #13

There are eight LACs tied for #13: Barnard, Davidson, Grinnell, Hamilton, Middlebury, Smith, Vassar, and Wesleyan. Claremont McKenna and Pomona are tied for #7. All the military academies did very well (because they're free).

I'd venture the vast majority of parents sending their kids to a pricey school like emory or GU make way more than 200k. Having engineering is makes davis more well rounded. I think it's fine since GU and emory get ranked with other schools that have engineering.
