How can we prepare our children for the coming storm?

Do I sound panicked? It is because I am!!

How about you teach your daughters to not sleep with random men? The easy solution is to wait until marriage

You do know sexual assault is a thing, right?

Also, I’m a married woman, and I would likely die if I ever got pregnant again. Married women need Plan B and birth control as well.

If I had daughters, I’d be teaching them not to sleep with any man, period. Not worth it. And even a married woman having married sex with her married spouse can die from a pregnancy complication that could be easily and safely avoided with an abortion.

Not all of us believe some magic sky fairy is waiting to welcome us “home” into his arms when we die needless deaths due to bad laws written by fanatics.

The government denying and ignoring will not make the problem go away. In fact, it will continue to get worse each year. There isn't enough aid to go around to bail everyone out. Our children will be struggling for food and for water. The ones who are more wealthy will survive longer.

T shutting down climate research and scientific innovation will lead to a significant reduction in the human population, starting with non-billionaire MAGA areas first. Facts. T and Musk will be fine with all the money they've amassed from you.

So, when (within the next few years) your children don't have food, water, or medicines, at least you can tell them you saved them a very small chance of ever having a transgender teammate.

Priorities!

People need to realize that we must raise taxes to make the weather stop. Science.

This has been the first time in my life where I am glad my DH and I weren't able to have children, and also decided not to adopt.

NP. I’m a registered Democrat who voted for Harris, but I make it a point to consume media across the political spectrum. It is remarkable how different the right-wing is now, particularly with respect to their concept of hope. They want kids. They aren’t doom-spiraling. They aren’t, for the most part, depressed. They are angry, some of them, for reasons I can’t exactly discern (seems disproportionate to their actual lot in life, which isn’t so bad overall). But I don’t see this deep hopelessness.

It feels like one more win for the right, to be honest.

They don't seem concerned about protecting their kids future.

They believe they are. In fact they believe that their children will be the ones to save this country and the world. I’m not kidding.

They also view them as expendable hence why they have 5 kids. They view it like insurance.

If you don't see the unique threat Trump poses to the American way of life you are beyond help.

FDR put people in internment camps and Truman killed 200,000 civilians with a nuclear bomb. What were you taught in school? You are historically illiterate, have no context of how bad it was in the past, lack coping skills, and are completely unhinged.

You reference these things as if they were problematic, yet you have no problem with Trump doing all of them again plus more?

Someone's unhinged, but it's not who you think...

Trump dropped a nuke to intentionally kill 200,000 civilians and put American citizens in a detention camp? Please provide a link. What are you even talking about…

He didn’t even drone American citizens or invent putting migrant kids in cages, but you don’t want to have that conversation. Maybe it’s a good place to start however because a lot of people on this thread seem to think that American history began in the 21st Century and have literally no clue about anything that happened more than 25 years ago.

Rounding up migrants and putting them in detention camps. Potentially using the United States military to do so is so screwed up. Things like should stay in the past and yet here we are.

Rounding up illegal immigrants who committed violent crimes and sex crimes and putting them in a prison in Cuba is equivalent to putting law abiding American citizens in detention camps? Are you serious? Care to make that case to a Japanese elder who was put in a camp by Roosevelt after he or she had their home and business taken?

Is it your position that anyone in the world who crosses the border illegally should just be automatically be turned into a citizen? If so, should 500 million people be allowed to cross illegally? 1 billion?

You totally skipped over the using the United States military as part of this roundup which is one of the most disturbing features of all of this.

And the poster is not talking about violent criminals.

Let’s tease this out. If Russian Nazi gang members crossed the border and started murdering and raping people would you have an issue using the military to get them out of our country? Why shouldn’t the military be used to remove violent gang members who invade our country?

Yea of course I would have a problem with that and you should too. Police and FBI and ATF etc are the proper tools for such an operation. The United States has long had LAW that prevents the military from performing such actions. Read a damn book. This a basic US civics. Where did you go to school?

The Posse Comitatus Act is a United States federal law signed on June 18, 1878, by President Rutherford B. Hayes that limits the powers of the federal government in the use of federal military personnel to enforce domestic policies within the United States.

The Posse Comitatus Act applies to US citizens, not foreign nationals. I’m sure you knew that, but were just trying to sound smart to some of the dimwits on here who learned everything from cable news.

The military is not prohibited from capturing foreign invaders, especially when they are an organized criminal gang. By your logic the Army would be restricted from capturing an ISIS cell that was in the country. And a lot of these criminal organizations, like Mexican cartels, are going to be designated as terrorist organizations.

That is for law enforcement. Do you know how much we're all paying for law enforcement in this country. We've outfitted them like the army already in some places. Instead of beating the crap out of them with flagpoles, let's let's get something for the arm and the leg we are spending for law enforcement.

The military is for our foreign enemies and the cops are for the gangsters.
