You keep telling yourself that. Understand the following: -there has been no proof of any waste fraud or abuse -our soft power institutions are being dismantled and China will fill the vacuum -our law enforcement is being dismantled so there will be no accountability for those in power abusing it -our privacy is been subsumed by a bunch of young 20 year olds who now have our social secuirty numbers and other private information that can be easily matched to privately held databased and abused - our banking system is now in the hands of the same 20 somethings who can, by edict, stop the flow of money from the US treasury to banks and between banks down to indovidual accounts. Said people can now go to someone who like a Biden post in 2021 and offer to unfreeze their bank or investment accounts if they swar fealty to trump, otherwise bye bye assets. How do we prepare our kids? read Diary of Ann Frank and decide if you are going to try to fight this or given in. We already know where the GOP stands and we also know they are not the majority of the country where these actions have taken place. Laws and rules and currency are a human construct that can be taken away and we are watching it happen in real time. But sure, those egg prices were so high in 2024.

I’m a Democrat. I don’t think it’s fair for trans women to compete in women’s sports, but that issue is very low on my list of priorities. I’m concerned that Elon Musk isn’t just “getting rid of waste and fraud.” He is usurping a power the Constitution specifically gives to Congress. He’s part of the executive branch, he was not elected, and he has no government experience. He’s a rogue actor with extreme far right beliefs. He hasn’t extensively studied the programs he’s dismantling and he’s not accountable to anyone who has. Furthermore, this is not an administration that has the knowledge, experience, skills or temperament to promote world peace. Trump doesn’t scare other countries because he’s a formidable genius who safeguards the American people’s best interests; he scares other countries (especially our historical allies) because he’s a loose cannon with no principals, no comprehension of the consequences of his actions, and he feels allegiance to all the wrong people. |

There won't be a draft. Most 18 year olds are too unfit, too addicted, too medicated, or too criminal to serve anyway.
My biggest concern is Elon Musk and the other tech billionaires - Zuckerberg, Bezos, Thiel, etc. They are systematically destroying the federal government. We are only in week 3 and already it's carnage out there. Silicon Valley sees an opportunity to plunder the US government and replace it with AI and libertarian mayhem. For the tech wealthy, it will be Elysium. For the plebes, it will be Law of the Jungle. I would tell teenagers today that their generational enemy resides on their phone. It's instagram, tiktok, WhatsApp, SnapChat, facebook, and every other popular app they use. The iPhone today is the modern version of Joseph Goebbels - a propaganda device designed to manipulate minds. Teach them to be wary of their phones and their apps. Silicon Valley is their mortal enemy. |

Make sure you all have passports and are prepared to leave if you need to. Figure out where you would go and what needs to be done in advance for you to stay there indefinitely.
If you have girls, stock up on pregnancy tests and Plan B. Even if they are still young. The most deplorable people in this country are now emboldened, and there is a greater chance of your girls becoming victims. Don’t let them use period tracking apps. But also, make sure they realize there is more to this country than our national politics. It is still a beautiful and diverse country, both landscape and people. If you have a good community, get involved so that they can take pride and comfort in their immediate surroundings. Keep life as normal as possible for them. If they are young, don’t listen to the news around them. If they are teens, don’t obsess over it in front of them but have discussions. Make sure they have critical thinking skills, understand cause and effect, and can understand the complexity of a situation. Simplistic thinking is what got us here (ex. eggs expensive=Biden bad). Ignore the posters who say you are being dramatic. You aren’t. Best of luck to you and yours, op! |

This cannot be emphasized enough. Watch Social Dilemma if you haven’t yet. The way algorithms can pull them in is alarming. When my son was in MS, he was a boy scout and did some searches on whether girls should be allowed in BSA. It very quickly turned into a lot of “male rights” propaganda. He made some bizarre comments, and we took a closer look at his online history and figured it out. We already watched closely, but the sites he was going to seemed like they were educational and we thought they were for school. It happens fast. |

Plan B expires. So do pregnancy tests. Maybe just move to a place where politics isn't the end-all-be-all guiding force of your life, and you and your kids will be happier?
I can promise you that in most places in the country, NO ONE is thinking about or caring about the changes happening. They don't think about politics at all. And if they do, they hear about wasteful government bureaucracy being dismantled in Washington and think, "good," then go about their lives. They don't care that malaria care is being cut in Uganda. They are happy that their state and local school district will have more control over what is taught. They voted for a guy who said he would install judges to overturn Roe v. Wade, and they got what they asked for. You might not agree with these choices, but they aren't any less American than you are. It's called a correction. The pendulum swung too far in one direction, and now it is swinging back. I don't necessarily agree with all of it, but I also haven't wrapped myself in tinfoil awaiting Armageddon. That is my recommendation. |
