Honestly asking Trump voters: how can you support him after this bizarre episode?

Question:
“Like my fellow Americans,” the woman said, “my grocery bill has not gone down. Everything is still so very expensive. What steps will your administration take to help American families suffering from this inflation?”

Trump's Plan for Inflation:

“So, you know, it’s such a great question in the sense that people don’t think of grocery. You know, it sounds like not such an important word when you talk about homes and everything else, right? But more people tell me about grocery bills, where the price of bacon, the price of lettuce, the price of tomatoes, they tell me. And we’re going to do a lot of things.

“You know, our farmers aren’t being treated properly. And we had a deal with China, and it was a great deal — I never mentioned it because once covid came in, I said, that was a bridge too far because I had a great relationship with President Xi [Jinping]. And he’s a fierce man and he’s a man that likes China and I understand that. But we had a deal and he was perfect on that deal, $50 billion he was going to buy. We were doing numbers like you wouldn’t believe, for the farmer. But the farmers are very badly hurt. The farmers in this country, we’re going to get them straightened out. We’re going to get your prices down.

“But you asked another question about safety and also about Black population jobs and Hispanic population in particular those two. So when millions of people pour into our country, they’re having a devastating effect on Black families and Hispanic families more than any others. I think it’s going to spread to a lot of other places.

“I think it’s going to spread to unions. I think unions are going to have a big problem because, you know, employers are just not going to pay the price. They’re going to — and it’s going to be — it’s a very bad thing that’s happening.

“So they’re coming in. Many are coming in from jails and prisons and mental institutions, insane asylums. That’s like, you know, step above, right? Insane asylum. And whenever I go, Hannibal Lecter, you know what I’m talking about. They always go — the fake news. That’s a lot of fake news back there, too.”

“They always mention — you know, it’s a way of demeaning, they say, ‘Hannibal Lecter, why would he mention?’ Well, you know why, because he was a sick puppy, and we have sick puppies coming into our country. I figured that’s a lot — that’s better than wasting a lot of words. You just say, ‘Hannibal Lecter. We don’t want him.’ But. But they always sort of say, ‘Why would he say that?’ I do it for a lot of reasons.

“But I do it because we are allowing some very bad people into our country. And they’re coming as terrorists. You know, you saw the other day, last month they had the record number of terrorists. I had a month — and I love Border Patrol.

“Did you see they gave me a full endorsement two days ago? Border Patrol.”

“The Border Patrol. And they’re great. And, you know, they want to do their job. They don’t want to let these people come in. They look at them. They can tell. They can look at somebody, say good, bad. They say what’s coming into our country now, it’s having a huge negative impact on Black families and on Hispanic families and ultimately on everybody.

“And we’re going to close that border so tight. It’s going to be closed. And I said the two things I’m going to do, first, we’re going to close that border — and people are going to come in. You want people to come in. We need people to come in. People are going to come into our country legally.

“You know, it’s so unfair. You have people that are waiting on a system, in a line and they’ve been waiting in this line. You know how long? For years, 10 years, 12 years and they study and they take tests. And then people come. I actually say, ‘Why don’t you just go and just come on across?’ I tell people that it’s terrible, right? I said, ‘Go out. You’re incredible.’ They say, ‘What can I do to speed up the process?’ I say, ‘You know what, go to the southern border. I’ll see you on the other side.’ It’s so unfair.

“But we’re going to have them come in legally. You have to see what they have to do. They take tests on, you know, who was the first one here? What date was this? What does 1776 mean? All this stuff.

“And these other people are coming in and they’re affecting the school systems and they’re affecting the hospital system. I mean, if you take a look at what’s going on in Springfield, Ohio, a town of 50,000 people, they’ve just added 32,000 people. Illegal immigrants. And we’re not going to put up with it.

“And we’re going to take care of your costs are going to come down, and you’re not going to have a problem with — because the biggest problem, and I’m hearing it from Black people and to a lesser extent right now, but it’ll be the same, Hispanic people.

“And I’ll tell you what, our poll numbers have gone through the roof. With Black and Hispanic, have gone through the roof. And I like that. I like that. I like that. So we’re going to take care of it. You will be — I’ll tell you, if everything works out, if everybody gets out and votes on January 5th. Or before.

“You know, it used to be, you’d have a date. Today, you can vote two months before, probably three months after. They don’t know what the hell they’re doing. But we’re going to straighten it all out. We’re going to straighten that out. We’re going to straighten our election process out, too. That’s going to be important, also. So thank you very much, darling. We’re going to get it straight. Thank you.

I can't understand how any sane person can read this and say, "Yes, this is the person who should have access to the nuclear codes." Trump is not even fit to be a greeter at Wal-Mart.

Just look at all those “policies” that he will enact. Harris has no policy compared to this clear outline from the mouth of Trump!

I fail to see how him playing music at his event proves he’s “lost it.”

And, yes, I do plan to vote for him. What I don’t want to do to my country and my children is have a President in office who will continue to implement socialism and open borders. Her policies are what is harming the country and my children. I don’t see the supposed threat from Trump, because I think Democrats are the threat to the country.

You’re so far gone and you can’t recognize that. I honestly feel bad for people like you, spouting the right wing talking points du jour as if they’re real, and to you they probably feel real. They must feel real and immediate for you to be able to blithely ignore all the violence that JD and Donald promise (and it would be JD after about six weeks), for you to vote for your own rights to be taken away, for you to ignore how successful Biden and Harris have been.

You’d feel a thousand times better if you took three days off your right wing crap-o-sphere. Just take a little vacation from the anger and let your amygdala rest.

Not the PP, but we feel the same way about your side. That is the problem with many Dems, and honestly the reason you may lose this time. You are arrogant and condescending, and you refuse to acknowledge that people believe different things. Instead, the party of tolerance and diversity just berates anyone who dares have a different political view, telling them to stop being brainwashed, etc. Well, we think it is you who is brainwashed, but we don't say that all day because we understand that people can have different views, even though we think you are very wrong.

Just accept the fact that whatever faults Trump may have, including getting old, does not change the reality that Harris is a much worse choice in terms of policies and the direction of this country. So just give it up with the Trump this and Trump that nonsense.

The bolded is gaslighting. Having a different "political view" is one thing. But when one side literally want to subjugate an entire gender to second class status, when one side is literally saying that using the US miltiary against the other side is ok, you lose the argument.

You want to go back to discussing what the tax rates should be or how much aid we should be giving to one country or another, then great, but that is not where we are as a country at this moment.

Yeah, not embracing fascism and “tear it all down” as a “different view”. Not happening.

See this is where you go off the rails and no one takes you seriously. No one wants to "literally subjugate an entire gender to second class status." That is just silly. Not even sure what you are talking about. Maybe abortion? If so, wanting to protect human life, half of whom are female, has nothing to do with subjugating women -- to the contrary, it is actually protecting millions of female babies.

Also, you need to stop taking Trump so seriously when he is riffing. Remember, he has already been President for four years. Everything was fine. In fact, it was a darn good presidency considering he dealt with the Democrat's Russia hoax for three years and then Covid hit. The other candidate has flipped 180 on numerous issues, so we have no clue what she actually believes. That is far scarier, especially in these uncertain times -- remember that the world was pretty much as peace during Trump's presidency.

This is your opinion and the opinion of the anti-abortion faction. Others have a different opinion. tell it to the women who have died, or have been made barren by these policies. It is sickening.

Nope, sorry, we are taking Trump and Vance at their words. They have been very clear their intent. It isn't a laughing it off or they are just joking. the world was not at peace during Trump's presidency, you have memory-holed those years. One thing is true, he catered and kowtowed to our enemies and made the world less safe for when he left office, leaving, once again, the democrats to try to clean it up.

Right, and your view about abortion is YOUR opinion. Hence, this is policy difference as I said. It doesn't translate into "your side literally wants to subjugate women." That is just your opinion and clear hyberbole. Wanting to protect human life is not subjugating women. If it was men who got pregnant, my view wouldn't change one iota.

Remember the (51!!!) national security "experts" who said the Hunter laptop was Russian misinformation? I do.

Trump’s economic plans will raise inflation. Get ready if that’s what you’re voting for. Save now while things are still good.

Right, so one candidate has already been President for four years. Things were pretty good with no inflation. The other candidate has been Vice President for four years (and cast key spending votes) and oversaw some of the worst inflation in our nation's history, after claiming the inflation was just going to be transitory and being told what they were doing was going to make it way worse.

Hmmm, tough choice.

We most want to rid ourselves of the uncertainties that come with inadequate leadership in The White House. Harris gives a chance at a return to an Obama level of acceptable leadership. Trump had the chance already and failed miserably.

This is all so odd/surreal. Whatever age-related issues he's having are progressive. This elderly man is unfit. Why are his supporters only focused on winning/the next three weeks and not on the state of his mental agility over the next four years?? Are people this daft? What planet are we on?

Just take a little vacation from the anger and let your amygdala rest.

so, you know better than all of these economists?

or all of these experts?

Based on what? Please be specific. Do you understand tariffs? Because trump clearly doesn't.

So every "expert" economist believes this? Or do some believe the contrary? That is what I thought. We are all tired of the expert battles these days, and have seen how they are strongly biased in both directions.

Inflation WAS transitory. It’s been at 3% for a year now. Stop lying.

For some, it's just the definition of insanity. Keep voting for elderly, unfit people thinking they are the best options to lead the most powerful country in the world, the elderly people fail miserably, and then we just nominate more elderly people at the next opportunity. What doesn't work, doesn't work. Out with the old (looking at you Donald and Joe) and in with the competent (Harris).

They are talking about tracking and arresting women for crossing state lines. You will excuse me if I don't feel like giving them the benefit of the doubt here. And the fact that he spouts so much egregious cr** while "riffing" - as you put it - does not give me any confidence! It is in fact infuriating that this person cannot say ANYTHING clearly - and yet, we've gotten the point! Women are sub-human to these people.

And no it's not f****** hyperbole.
