Here is how to transfer to any high school in the area

Is it standard procedure to warn people that you are coming before showing up for a residency check?

Only if it's a good photo op

The WTOP article has a statement from VHSL saying they won't investigate any eligibility concerns unless they come from FCPS. FCPS says its not their responsibility. Seems like a whole lot of people want to look the other way.

6 of the 14? There are 12 from Prince William, 1 from a school in Maryland and 1 from a school in DC.

Ok - 6 of the 14. But the two private school kids from St John’s and Dematha could have been living anywhere prior to the transfer. St Johns runs a bus up Rt 1 every morning right through Hayfields district so maybe the kid already lived there. DeMatha kid probably involved a move but not necessarily all the way from Hyattsville.

But FCPS is claiming all 14 are residents of Hayfield boundary?

You have to read what they claimed very carefully. The evidence they decided to look at (and not look at) and the people they decided to talk to (or avoided talking to) didn't show any irregularities. They aren't saying anywhere that these 14 kids actually live in Hayfield zone. They did not really look to find out.

FCPS does this in every situation. They literally train their employees how to look the other way on many things. Gaslighting at it's finest.

I don't think being mobbed by angry WSHS AND Hayfield parents would be a good photo op.

Still, a leader would show up to support their controversial decision.

What's the point of VHSL having rules if they will only investigate cheating WHEN ASKED TO DO SO BY THE CHEATING SCHOOL DISTRICT? That's not logical.

I attended the Hayfield meeting on Tuesday night, and it was odd. Absolutely pointless. The same “nothing to see here, folks” message could have been sent in an email to parents. FCPS wanted to sweep it under the rug and shut down criticism.

Other schools should refuse to play Hayfield.

Someone should have pinned her down at the meeting on attending the game. Then she would have been available for parent questions for the full two hour game time.

For everyone suggesting FCPS is covering this up? Why would they do that? Honestly, why would they care to protect this 1 program in such a large district?

I am fascinated how many in this thread even care this much about football. This is so low on my radar of things to care about but I'm nosey. It could also be because I have 4 girls.

Moving to a more expensive area to pay more rent for less apartment plus the costs of moving requires a decent chunk of change

Not as much as college tuition. It's worth it.

It’s because Hayfield has a new AA principal and AA coach in a school with a sizable AA student body and the football player transfers in question are AA. FCPS is afraid of appearing racially biased although everyone knows that the principal and coach are stacking the team with transfers to create a football powerhouse program.

That would make them District Champs by default, right?

This is racist and dumb, but it is a response.

Think of the hassle and mess if they chose to find out there was malfeasance. The football program wouldnt have any coaches. The kids would be kicked out of school. The guy would be investigated for theft and fraud. The school would have to find more staff to hire to replace all the cronies they just hired. And it would look bad. Its so much easier to just not find anything and continue along.
