Whittle School had outsourced college counseling to a small college consulting firm at least for the 2021-22 year. I received an email in May from the contracted college consultants that they have not been paid since March and are owed $20,000. They were imploring the Whittle parents to help them get paid by saying they would not send the seniors’ transcripts. Then the next day Manny Rivera sent out an email saying that Valmir Gomes, the Upper School head, was working on sending out their transcripts and that the school will hire another college consultant. I highly doubt these consultants got paid or will. Chris Whittle has a poor track record of paying people. Even his so-called good friend Sunny Varkey had to sue him to get paid, |
It’s because his wife was big in a parent group at Whittle that knew the financial situation and asked parents to chip in to pay teachers. She so works at a search firm for HOS. So several conflicts of interest. Was she dealing dirty just to keep the school asking until her kid graduated? Did she play by the rules or help her husband get the Maret job to help stranded Whittle kids get an edge on admissions? |
|
Eh, that sounds like a lot of speculation.
I can judge why someone would ever work due whittle, but don’t see real value in creating these conspiratorial plot lines. |
This is crazy. Stop with this please! Dennis did not get a job at Maret so Whittle students can get in. Dennis was not treated well at the end. He has no loyalty to Whittle. Infact I’m sure he is glad the school shut down. Their kid graduated, they have nothing let to keep them at Whittle. |
Why is this so hard to grasp? Maret parents do not want to be associated with Whittle. And he was the founding head of Whittle. It. Is. Not. Rocket. Science |
1000000% THE WIFE DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE FINANCES AND FURTHERMORE SHE ONLY HAD THE GUTS TO ASK OUR PARENT GROUP FOR FUNDS BECAUSE THE DIRECTOR OF THE FOOD HAD SPENT HIS LAST DIMES ON FOOD FOR THE BOARDING KIDS AND HAD NO MORE MONEY TO FEED THE KIDS. Also he left TWO YEARS ago before most of the craziness has happened so leave them out of this conversation. |
wut? |
Your kids attend Maret, yes? |
| The new Maret HOS is likely to spend a lot of his time over the next 2 to 3 years in depositions in the various lawsuits about Whittle. It will certainly distract from his job overseeing Maret. The Maret board would be well advised to have a backup plan. |
Agree completely. I don’t understand why he is being unfairly treated just because of his one year stint at Whittle. Seriously people need to stop with this nonsense. Is that the level of the parents at Maret? |
You clearly have no idea how civil litigation works. He will spend "a lot of his time of the next 2 to 3 years in depositions"? Really? How long do you think these depositions and related prep will last? We're talking days out of a year. Find a new tree to bark up, troll. |
|
Naw, it's the level of trolls who hate Maret for some reason or another and want to perpetuate the myth that the new HOS is forever tainted by his brief time at Whittle. It's everything from "every Whittle student will be accepted at Maret" to "the new HOS can't possible do his job because he will be too involved in Whittle lawsuits". It's all garbage and perpetuated by folks who have a grudge. Agree completely. I don’t understand why he is being unfairly treated just because of his one year stint at Whittle. Seriously people need to stop with this nonsense. Is that the level of the parents at Maret? |

DP. Every time any of this is mentioned, or any of the other “committee” parents are mentioned on the thread, the posts are reported, ridiculed etc and always in a very similar language. I don’t buy it.
To my casual observation of the reported facts, the Bisgaards never disassociated from Whittle. He was the founding HOS and they together knew a lot including what was happening and what was coming till the last minute. Perhaps just so their child can graduate but I think there could have been a lot more. She never left, and caused a controversy on the committee by being the employees’ representative against their will until it folded. Not only that, but the advisory board members like her get a stipend by Whittle’s own docs. So I don’t know, but it stinks Just “screaming” at people and calling them trolls for pointing out the obvious open questions doesn’t make me see we’ll-intentioned people of sound judgment doing their best as these PPs would have one believe. It makes me think there’s plenty there for a nice expose. No I don’t think Bisgaard got the job at Maret to channel the students here, but I think a whole generation of parents got mislead by a small self-interested group of former admin and parents, and don’t think that the possible graft, rent-seeking behaviors, conflict of interest, insider dealing, favoritism (including the children of connected parents securing an otherwise impossible spot at Maret), if present, are unlikely to magically stop in a different setting. If I were a journalist or a parent considering a lawsuit, I’d look closely into the parents on the committee and advisory board and other governance boards, who allegedly included Bisgaard, a “health” firm owner, a slumlord etc. Plenty juicy stuff there and just calling intelligent people asking obvious questions trolls won’t make it go away. |
Very interesting. I heard the Board was directed to make the controversial selection. Who directed it? |
