Whittle

Anonymous
All of the Whittle families are former families, but we became a former family in mid-June after the 21-22 school year ended. We are not affected by the closure of the school. I am so glad I pulled my kid out before this 'devastating' news from Chris Whittle. I knew Chris Whittle was classless and selfish, so was not surprised by the announcement. I actually expected him to put many families in an uncomfortable situation at a sudden and inconvenient time too late after private schools finished their admissions cycles. Now, a lot of the faculty members who were not searching for jobs are suddenly scrambling for positions elsewhere. In our household, when we say Whittle, we replace the W with S.

And hoping they get the backpay owed to them while they file for unemployment.

No. It’s their parents’ faults. To the bottom of the private waitlists or — gasp — horror — public school.

Private school waitlists aren't actually lists with a top or a bottom. They are wait pools with everyone who could be qualified but weren't initially offered acceptance. Then when there's a spot, the school will choose the person they think will best fit that spot (an introverted female trumpet player, or whatever). If a school wants to put a former Whittle student in that pool, that's not jumping over anyone else.

Erm. Let’s watch Maret, with founder HOS of Whittle miraculously getting a job there

Parents seduced into this situation so the few privileged parents’ children could graduate should be able to sue that entire investment committee including the Maret HOS wife and get their school fees for the rest of the school at least

This is an outrageous scandal quite frankly and Whittle is the least interesting part of it

Can someone explain what is going on with the HOS? Are you saying the whittle head of school is now the maret head of school? I'm confused. My nephew is/was a student at whittle through this announcement.

The founding head of school at Whittle, Dennis Bisgaard, is the new head of school for Maret starting in the summer of 2023. He left Whittle in 2019, and had been interim head of school at various schools around the country. His child just graduated from Whittle this past summer.

They are unsecured creditors way at the back of the line in a bankruptcy proceeding for a company that is broke to begin with. They'll never see a dime from the school.

Ah thanks. So then the posters saying there might be some reciprocity in admissions are likely off base as Whittle students need a school this Fall.

Maret is too small and too oversubscribed to be able to take a bunch of new students.
Anonymous
Not a bunch. But even just a few is too many to be a coincidence
And likely from the inner circle families

I don't think reciprocity is the word you're looking for here.

It doesn’t sound crazy, there’s already been at least one. The new HOS was selected by the Board under directive many months. There’s so much smoke there’s ether a fire developing or we are selecting a new Pope

I am just curious, but why are there many complaints about Dennis Bisgaard coming in as the new HOS at Maret next year? Is it because of his previous role at Whittle? We found another private school, not Maret, to attend for a generous merit scholarship. Coming from a former Whittle family member even before the school closure.
