How have I misrepresented this? In what way is staying masked actually more selfish than unmasking?

Ok. But at what point will you unmask then? Never? If the CDC says, as it does now, that places like Arlington and DC don’t need to mask, what will convince you?

DP. Why are you so agitated about other peoples’ decision to keep wearing masks?

What gives you the impression I’m agitated? I’m not agitated. Just wondering what some people are thinking. I have, and always will, follow science. The experts at the CDC don’t recommend wearing masks given the current conditions.

Same. I don’t care if people wear masks. Just wondering what’ll be the tipping point for them to stop. Just curiosity. It obviously doesn’t affect me.

Speaking just for myself, I've always planned to keep precautions in place a bit longer than "everyone else" to be sure we're really in the clear (we have some health risks). I've never been really specific about how much longer because its hard to predict the future. At one point I would have said once my youngest (under 5) is able to be vaccinated plus low community transmission, but with the recent news about waning efficacy of vaccines for 5-11 year olds I need to dig into that. Maybe I'll feel like I need to wait 4 months after the under 5 vaccine becomes available to see if similar data comes out. I don't know. What I do know, is that the way COVID acts will be completely independent of what I want.

Forgot to add that available and effective treatments would help too.

I trust science. I do not trust CDC which has been pushed by issues unrelated to public health.

Stop talking about masks and do what you will.

I would’ve agreed with you under the Trump administration, but now? I have a friend who works for the CDC. Haven’t heard anything from her that would suggest anything other than science guides their decision on low transmission areas. What issues are you referring to?

This clip was shared on AEM of various moms talking about masks in school. I’m curious why the promaskers aren’t wearing one in the interview.

The producers didn’t want anyone wearing a mask for sound reasons. All off camera crew were wearing masks.

If your whole thing is masks, you probably shouldn’t go on national tv without one.

I’m surprised they didn’t open a few windows.

Maybe they had one of those homemade box fan air filters going 😉

Your whole post was argumentative. That’s what gives the impression that you are agitated.

Prior to covid, have you ever had a a cold, flu, or other respiratory virus? If the answer is yes, can you confidently say you have never killed anyone's grandma? Further, let's assert that properly worn masks, especially high filtration masks, are effective - do you think most kids are properly wearing masks in school for hours on on end? Let's stop with the moralizing of masks in schools. If you want to protect people, get them high filtration masks, vaccinate them and address ventilation.

No the real questions are - prior to 2020 - how many times did your kid wake up with a fever and runny nose and you dosed them with tylenol and sent them to school bc you just couldn’t have them stay home? How many times did your kid throw up in the evening but you sent them to school the next day bc even though they said they didn’t feel well you thought they looked fine? How many times did you send your kid to school coughing and sneezing and snot running out of their nose and told everyone “they just have little cold”? And how many times did you ever consider the immunocompromised child or teacher in your school or class?

The answer is NEVER. In fact the same sanctimommies and daddies going on and on about their kids will continue to wear masks bc they care and aren’t anti social are they EXACT SAME parents who would have been appalled, complained to the superintendent, the media, posted all over social media, if anyone at their child’s school even so much as hinted that their child should wear a mask to protect those people prior to 2020. They would be the absolute first to say NO! they have the problem so they should wear a mask. My kid should not be penalized.

So all of you going on and on about how much you care and how awesome you are are disgusting. You don’t care at all about any immunocompromised people and you never did.

Whaaa? My kids are still masking but I have never dosed them with Tylenol and sent them in, I have kept them home with bad colds — shoot, I have kept t then home for allergies during covid because even though I know the sniffling is allergies, the school doesn’t. Kept one home for lice they got from camp though the school told me I didn’t need to.

Not sure why you think someone like me would have been against wearing masks before covid. We are down with self sacrifice to improve the general welfare. Pretty sure we would have signed up for that newsletter.

oh of course - your were perfect! And exactly how many times did you post pleas or beg your fellow parents to mask their children when i’ll for the sake of the immunocompromised before 2020? NEVER- that’s how many times.

Is Joe Biden an uncaring and antisocial person? He wasn’t wearing a mask yesterday. So what kind of person does that make him? I bet you were enraged regarding Trump and make so where is your outrage???

You were just screaming about how people who didn’t wear masks were antiMaskers and loved Trump so is that what you now think about Biden????

Masks are not really appropriate for young children, it impedes phonics and learning to read. My kid is in kindergarten and his teacher has point blank said this. She said that they’ve had to really lower expectations this year because it’s much harder for her to tell “who knows what” since she can’t see their mouths during circle time. It’s better than virtual school, but it’s far from ideal. I think that if you want to keep masking outside of school, and if you want to mandate masks for older kids great. But kids first grade and younger should not be masked.

The sacrificing SAHM. Noble, indeed.

COVIDians, it's over. Give it up. See the State of the Union last night.

You blindfully followed a group of people in the ultra-liberal public health establishment who wanted to eliminate any risk to COVID, at the expense of everything else. It was all political for you too, to show how virtuous you were. Now, the Democratic party is throwing those extreme scientists overboard because their advice has failed scientifically and politically failed.

Time to move on.

I work. What’s wrong with the people who who are calling keeping a kid home when they are sick self sacrificing or assuming I don’t work. This is normal behavior and what you are supposed to do. What are YOU doing when your kid is sick, if this is remarkable to you???

I also hope this is over.
