The fact is, the organizers (ie proud boys and oath keepers) needed the rubes to have enough people to cause the penetration of the Capitol under cover. They also needed "antifa" to succeed, but since there is no such thing, and Mayor Bowser advised locals to stay away, they didn't get the street fighting necessary for Trump to invoke the insurrection act (against Antifa, not the coup plotters)
The people who are subject to this "overreach" were the every day rubes who believed the BS. They deserve to be considered felons, but they also were not the people who actually planned the events of the day. They knew what they were getting involved with, they should endure the penalties. |
