How should I feel about the fact that my next door neighbors put a Youngkin board on their lawn?

Given how close he is to Trump, this sign seems like a direct threat of violence against you.

Perhaps not a *direct* threat of violence. But DEFINITELY an implied threat.

I thought silence was violence.
Hard to keep up.

You never know! We need neighborhoods that are politically oriented safe spaces. That way no one will ever have to face a different opinion.

This! For an added feeling of safety, we could even separate everyone by race. It is the progressive thing to do!

You could call it Takoma Park.

Republican elites are unamerican and they want to destroy the country to cut taxes on the rich.

I ostracize Republicans. Republicans are not welcome at my PTO meetings or my church group. They want to do things that harm my kids. Done with them.
Youngkin sign means immediate social rejection.

I am Republican and president of your PTO. My friend is Republican and heads your church group. I am concerned about your lack of intelligence, but you can do clean up after academic events. She is concerned about yiur lack of tolerance and charity, so the church grouo is praying for you.

And we hope your diet works this time.

Very safe since it’s surrounded by those walks that hold back water — now what do you call them??

Not sure R's believe more than one opinion (but I do think they are generally more pragmatic), but I do agree that the D's are the party of one true opinion..no doubt a D must be all in on every key issue

This +1000

I heard soooo many post election interviews where people claimed that they were pro choice and still voted R because they believed in other R campaign points wheras there D friends simply would not entertain any R talking points even if they had been D talking points in previous elections.

I think the quote a few times was "I am not worried about abortion being overturned in the next few years but I am worried about A, B and C and McAuliff kept trying to scare me about my pro choice vote."

This is very anti Semitic.

You must attend one of those Methodist churches that love to display “EVERYONE IS WELCOME” signs.

I just keep picturing the classic SNL church lady with a modem twist as a Karen Krazy

Fool. It is a direct threat of violence. Did you watch Youngkin shoot those basketballs. That guy is definitely ripped. I can’t imagine what he could do OP

But I know what I’d like him to do to me —.

Disagree. It isn’t Youngkin who’s the threat.

Youngkin’s lieutenant governor is the one who owns a gun! And she is clearly a white supremacist, out to harm you OP.

Don’t open the door if she knocks at your house!

Maybe both of you would actually learn a thing or two and be better people for it.

No, sorry. It’s not 1990 anymore. If you vote R, you vote for the Trump party, and we have absolutely nothing whatsoever to “learn” from you. Your vote told us everything about you we needed to know.

So you believe all R’s supported Trump? And all Dems support AOC? Sanders?

Or…could there possibly be moderates on both sides that could agree on like 75% of the issues? I’m an R (not the poster) and have plenty of Dem friends. Good friends. Family friends. Travel together. The whole thing. While I didn’t vote for Trump, I have voted R prob 80% of my life, including the last cycle. I have no idea if my Dem friends have ever voted R and I don’t really care. Won’t change how I feel about them either way.
More to life than politics. And devise, dramatic, sensationalized takes don’t change anyone opinions, it only hardens the side that each person is on.

Same. I'm an R, did not vote for Trump, was horrified by January 6th and hope the insurrectionists all do jail time. I have a lot of respect for D's like Abigail Spanberger and Elaine Luria. I also have a hatred of lawn signs that spans the political spectrum, particularly the "in this house" ones, though I am tempted to get the Michael Clayton version.

OP - Should you be more careful in your interactions? Yes, you should. You're probably coming across as paranoid.

You should move to Arlington, and hurry up and pick a house before the signs come down so you don’t have a scary neighbor.

Some people there went for Youngkin but fewer than other places.

Your safest bet is to find a majority black neighborhood in any county because black people went for McAuliffe at around 90%.

Good luck, and stay safe from all the new Republican voters out there!
