Is anyone familiar with the plans to knock down 3
of the apt buildings in westover to make way for luxury town homes? Can you share what information you have? |
| why would anyone be excited about a townhouse |
Jerk. |
Because it would impact the surrounding sfhs |
| wait, where? Along Washington Blvd? |
|
That would be great if its true. They might be somewhat affordable.
I've also heard that The Italian Store is going to open where the 7-11 is now. |
|
What? When? Which side of Wash Blvd?
Also, the Italian Store rumor has been around for years. I wouldn't hold your breath. |
| Doubt the Italian Store rumor is true but one can hope. Not sure though why they would pick that location. |
| They're in discussions with the shopping center mgmt to move into the space currently occupied by the pharmacy or 7-11 when their leases are up. |
| I can't see that the Italian Store would move there with the parking situation being what it is there. |
The 66 side just behind Jefferson st |
| A friend personally spoke with the Tramontes (family that owns the Italian Store) and was told it's happening. Agree that parking will be tight, but that doesn't stop anyone from opening things in Clarendon. |
Rent in Westover would be a lot cheaper than in Lyon Village, but the sq footage would be smaller and there is much less parking. Also they might loose the business of all the monied apartment and condo dwellers in Courthouse-Clarendon. In Westover they would also be competing directly with Lost Dog Cafe for the sub/sandwich business. They've been in Lyon Village for almost 40 years. This makes no sense unless the beautiful Lyon Village shopping center is selling out to some developer. |
I believe it. The owners of some of those cheap apartment buildings have been holding out to redevelop for years. |
Dumb. Will tank if they make that move. |
