| Recently reviewed our credit card statements and was shocked to see that our family of 4 spent nearly $20k in dining out in 2012. Curious how much others are spending. |
| ABout $8,000 including lunches for both parents while at work. |

| $25k, family of 3. HHI $200k. |
| Too much. I'm scared to even try to figure it out. |
| maybe 1500, but I only earn 45K |
| Really??? You spent $20K just on eating at restaurants? Holy crap. We spent $4K and I thought that was too much. (and we make $285K). |
|
Hmm, good question, OP. I should sit down and crunch numbers seriously.
Ballpark: 10-15k annually |
| Way too much. |
|
A little less than 12K a year.
HHI is just under 400K. |
| $10K last year. On track to be at least $12K this year. $200K HHI. Family of 4, kids are pre-school age. This number includes 1-2 nights per week of delivery/carry-out, date night and celebratory dinners, as well as dining out on our beach weekends or visiting family trips. Eating pizza once a week adds up to almost $1,800 per year! I was shocked at the disparity between what i thought we spent and what we actually spend monthly on dining out and other things once I started tracking our expenses on Mint.com. It's enlightening. |

PP here...
I LOVE to cook and to entertain. I would much rather have friends here for a meal with some kick ass wine than go out to eat. Some women like to drive Mercedes, I spend money on kitchen appliances, good ingredients and good food.... |
| $1500. Family of 4. HHI = 200k. |
|
I'm sure we spent what sounds like a lot, but we mostly eat at inexpensive places and we buy fewer groceries. It's cheaper to eat home if you are scheduled and diligent but we end up wasting so much that eating out/takeout is sometimes not much more expensive.
