Much of the terms have already been largely reported by Iranian media, but neither Washington nor Tehran have officially confirmed the contents of the memorandum of understanding that is due to be formally signed on Friday.

Under the agreement, Iran will immediately take steps to reopen the strait of Hormuz once the tentative deal is signed, and it will be allowed to sell its oil without restrictions, AP reported.

The news agency stated that, according to the leaked text, Washington would secure at least $300bn for the reconstruction and economic development of Iran and work to end all US and UN sanctions imposed on Tehran if a final agreement addressing its nuclear programme is reached.

The deal calls for an immediate end to all fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, but it makes no mention of a withdrawal of Israeli troops, a key demand of Iran, AP reported.

Of course, Trump is already claiming it’s a lie, “not even 10 cents” is being given to Iran.

Thank you for one of the few useful posts here

So we can't have universal healthcare, but we can blow up and rebuild Iran. Mmmkayyyyy...

Bush did that for Iraq. Now it’s Trump’s turn. It’s becoming a Republican presidential tradition.

Exactly. They don't give a fxxxxk about the American people.

Iran can have missiles. Ha! Good luck Israel. It won’t be a country for long.

+1 Cheney wanted to invade Iraq so that his company could profit from it.

Trump wanted to invade Iran so that his family could profit from it.

They cloak it in "we must stop their wmd/nukes", but in both cases, that was obviously untrue, and Cheney even had to make sh(t up and ruin the career of a CIA agent to do so. Both went after people who disagreed with them. Disgusting. They don't love America; they love money and power.

MAGA/Rs are suuuper dumb.

He and his family will make bank on the deal. He has dementia and lives in his own head, so to him, he wasn't humiliated.

The average American is the loser here.

The details being discussed right now have absolutely nothing for the US in this agreement.

Sad.

It's to be expected. We attacked a sovereign nation (who was of NO threat to us) for absolutely no reason, except because Israel said so.

When will Americans realize that our "support" for Israel is costing us so incredibly much? It's literally killing us.

There has never been a serious post-Cold War reappraisal of American foreign policy. Not under Bush, Obama, Biden, or Trump. There is no strategic reason in 2026 to be so heavily involved with either Israel or Iran. If Iran and Israel want to go at it, let them. Their problem, not ours.

The rest of the world is moving very rapidly to remove themselves from any dependency on the Middle East. The US should join the modern world and get out of the region entirely. The petrodollar is not worth decades of war. We don't need the Middle East. It's not 1973. Let Arabs and Jews and Persians be morons. Not our problem in 2026.

Welp. Worst president in US history. Looks like this is even taking down the remaining MAGA loyalists.

Every moderately powerful Zionist, including Harris, Biden, HRC, BHO, Schumer, etc, deserves substantial condemnation for their bringing us to this moment. Making it all about Trump is dangerous nonsense.

No, it is 100% Trumps fault. He decided to launch this dumb war. No one else did. Stop with your both siding.

It is both sides. Look at how they voted when the opportunity was there to stop this war.

WTAF. Who do you think was in office to vote for this war? Only Schumer is in office during this Trump war. LOL, and btw, Trump never brought this before Congress for a vote.

MAGA is desperately trying to spread responsibility for this disaster. The record shows that Democrats have been united against this war from the beginning and used what little power they have to force War Powers Resolution votes. Republicans voted in lock step in favor of the war.

This.
But Trump has so screwed the economy with this unprovoked war of choice that people, even MAGA, are too angry and fed up to believe him.

Purportedly the fundamental problem is Iran getting nuclear weapons and now Trump has put them on the express train to that goal. Trump tossed US hegemony out of his crib which means we have no power to prevent it by working with other countries. Trump is funding Iran’s goals with this sweetheart deal that funnels $300 billion AND removes sanctions AND allows Iran to charge a “fee” for going through the strait.

While Trump will undoubtedly personally benefit, it’s going to be very expensive for Americans. And Trump will be blamed. As he should be.

Unfortunately, I think most MAGA will go back to supporting him once gas prices come down some.

It will be months before gas prices come down and grocery prices will likely not come down at all.

They are already dropping a bit and I’d expect more over the summer once SOH picks up. Probably not prewar levels for quite a while, but enough that the personal inconvenience to MAGA will wear off. They DGAF that he sold out the country.

I paid 3.86 at the pump in NoVa.
Hardly onerous compared with inflation overall.
