And own it if you are ok with MAGA. No one is forcing you. There is a better option.

You said the same thing when we were staring at the Biden v. Trump choice. At some point how are Democrats not learning to put up better candidates instead of berating voters about casting a ballot for their terrible candidate or else MAGA. Do better. This is why the party is so unpopular even in the era of Trump.

So to “teach” Democrats a lesson you’re going to fck us all over.

So irrational.

Grow TF up.

Nope, the Dems f*cked us all over by putting up Jay Jones for AG. I am not voting for Jay Jones because he is completely unfit for the job that he is running for. I am not going to eat a sh!t sandwich to cover for the Dems inability to run a qualified person for AG. And I’m not the only one with this perspective, but keep screaming into the void. *Shrug*

Go nuts. At least admit that you think MAGA is an acceptable outcome.

And Jay Jones is?

Yes. He got a speeding ticket and sent a text. It wasn’t an actual threat, just bad taste.

Get a grip.

It wasn’t a threat he wanted to shoot
Someone and their kids? How far will you go to rationalize that this person is not fit to be AG?

Was he actually threatening to shoot anyone? Hitler? No, it was obviously a hypothetical.

Poor taste but not an actual threat.

Here is some of the texts you think aren't so bad:

Jones then mused about a scenario in which he had two bullets and could choose to fire them at Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot — the brutal Cambodian dictator — or then-House Speaker Todd Gilbert (R).

“Spoiler: put Gilbert in the crew with the two worst people you know and he receives both bullets every time,” Jones wrote, according to the screenshot
.

The text conversation continued after the call ended. In those further texts, Coyner suggested that Jones had also talked about Gilbert’s children dying in the arms of their mother, Jennifer.

“You weren’t trying to understand,” Coyner texted. “You were talking about hopping [sic] jennifer Gilbert’s children would die”

“Yes, I’ve told you this before,” Jones replied. “Only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy.”

If a Republican said this about any Democrat you would be screaming to high heavens. The fact you think this isn't so bad says more about you are your willingness to excuse this.

I am guessing his point was around gun violence. Would it take having their own kids shot to convince Rs to support common sense gun control?

We don’t know exactly what was said or the context.

Speeding and bad taste texts? I’d still take him over MAGA.

The bar is truly so low now thanks to the Republicans that he honestly still has a lot of leeway.

The texts were posted. They were exactly what was said. There’s no context this is acceptable. The fact you are trying to downplay this is just ridiculous.

No we don’t know what was said in the conversation. We don’t have the full context.

This guy drove too fast and wrote some poor taste texts.

I’ll take that any day over someone willing to throw away our rights.

Exactly what context are we missing when this guy wrote he wanted to put 2 bullets in the head of his opponent, anted his kids to die in their mother’s arms and then double down on the comments?

The entire phone call is missing. You don’t know what was said or even what led up to the conversation. You don’t know the tone.

Are you purposely ignoring the texts? And I might add that jones has not denied anything that was written about the phone call.

Are you purposely ignoring the fact that there were circumstances that lead up to that exchange?

Are you purposely ignoring the fact that there was an entire phone call that we didn’t hear?

We don’t have the context for the texts, period. We don’t know the intent or tone.

He could easily have been joking. Something that was in poor taste and still warranted an apology.

Anyway, my entire point was we don’t have the context to make a fully informed judgement.

DP. The predictable partisanship has come out from both sides, but the bottom line is that Jay Jones lacks the judgment and character to be elected as AG.

I'm planning to split my ticket and hoping this dope and the Democrats who come to his aid for reasons that are easily understood yet also indefensible aren't going to tank the campaigns of Spanberger and Hashmi.

Yeah, but the emails. Always expecting democratic candidates to be perfect, but republicans can bat negative thirty and it’s a-okay. And then you wonder how you end up with bought, miller, kegsbreath, worm brain, and puppy killer to represent your interests. Gtfoh

Jones is anything but perfect, and the lack of adequate vetting of potential candidates by the Democrats is a real problem. You should be lucky Miyares is the only GOP candidate I’ll support this cycle given some of the pathetic circling of the wagons we’re seeing.

Jones was exchanging texts with a Republican lawmaker. She kept the receipts.

Guy seems to have an IQ of about 75.

It’ll boil down to whether there are enough decent-minded voters in nova or whether that region has completely lost its mind.

A lot more is about to come out. Buckle up.

This thread is very disheartening. This man wished two bullets in the head of his political opponent and hoped that his children might die in their mother's arms because "Only when people feel pain personally do they move on policy." There is no context. He admitted that he said these things and apologized in a televised interview. But apology aside, we know now that is what he believes. He is a morally bankrupt person and has zero judgement. He cannot be the AG.

I don't see how any good person can cast a vote for Jay Jones after knowing this about him. Irrespective of his opponent. We can't support advocates of political assassination because we don't like Trump.

This demonstrates, yet again, the COMPLETE WISDOM of allowing such a lengthy period of early voting.

The DNC said to vote Jones because “whomever is free from sin cast the first stone”. Curious if Jay Jones will have that philosophy as AG.

Wow. Not casting stones is one thing--but, that doesn't mean you should vote for him.

Correct. He lacks the self control to do the job. He was too hyped up on anger to think straight. No one should text these hateful things. And no one should text it to the opposing party.

Advice from my dad many, many years ago. I was angry with someone and writing a letter. My dad said, "never put anything in writing that you would not want anyone else to see."

Good advice and the same goes for texting.

That is a good question. And then how was it acceptable to get someone on his payroll to sign off on his “community service” that was actually his campaign.

And he also lacked the self control not to drive that insane speed on I-64. Impulsive? Pushing the limits? Feeling suicidal that day? Whatever it was, really, not AG material.

Jay Jones is an idiot, but the alternative is worst. I may not vote for AG.
