Private & Independent Schools
I almost never purchase from the SR bookstore. Almost always more pricey and they add shipping charges. Amazon is the way to go, but make sure it is the right edition. |

Zero chance they ask her to do homework and cheat sheets. Seek help for either you or your daughter. One of you is lying.

You donât know if they are lying nor if they are telling the truth. But you shouldnât say zero chance. Just ask for more info (pp) |
+1 saved so much money this way. |
NP - and incoming Class of '29 parent. This also surprised/shocked me, what with the cost of tuition. |
Yes, you purchase books for HS. Books are not included in tuition. You can buy from the online bookstore the school partners with or find the books on your own. If you buy them from other sources make sure the edition is the one specified on the class list. We always sourced some books from elsewhere and bought some from the online school store. DD would message out to the grade below during the summer about what books she was selling and sold a couple each year. |
Parents should sign it as well. One of the moms calls teenage girls to get the gossip and discusses other kids AND parents with teenagers. Apparently she does the same thing at her younger son's school as well. |

This comment seems a bit unbalanced to me. Is the PP a current SR family? We are a current SR family (new to the class of 2028 last year). And I have been very impressed with everything about SR. My daughter really likes it. For the OP, I recommend that her daughter join a fall sport for sure, even just intramural. They have a lot of options for sports in all 3 seasons. For example, my DD did Learn-to-golf (intramural) in the spring and had fun with it. |
This is standard practice at a private school for middle school and high school, in my experience as a parent at a few private schools over the years. |
You must not have experience at a lot of other schools. Maybe itâs a religious school thing to charge extra. Progressive schools include it in their tuition. |
What? Buying textbooks (in addition to tuition) is fairly standard for private high schools and some middle schools. Weird to make this a religious vs progressive school thing. |
Uh yeah, itâs normal. Even if youâre paying 60k. Tuition in HS isnât all inclusive. |

This discussion about having to pay for textbooks is truly bizarre. Out of curiosity I looked at other schools' fees and found that most do not include text books in tuition.

I did not even check any other Catholic schools because it seems some thing this is some sort of religious thing, which is even more strange. |
| Does anyone know when schedules and class placements come out? |
| Why can't these schools just be brave about it and include it in their top line? Nickel and diming families that pay this much is ridiculous. |
