ECNL moving to school year part 2

Simple Quick fix for August kids:

Whats your Grade?

Do you want to play in College?

If they don't want to play in college they don't need to play in top club leagues.

If they do want to play in college they need to align with there grade.... MLSN, NL, RL, NPL, Select, Rec or whatever team they can make.

100% also Ive been saying this for over a year.

Another way to put it is if you're not good enough for the A team with your grade team. Aug birthday players must play on the B team with their grade. (not the grade down A team)

Well, my DD is a Sept 29 birthday and the VA school cut off is Sept 30th. She went on time to school. She does not want to play "down" and plans to stay with her current team, which aligns with her grade. It's not that complicated. Her coach is on board.

Again…. No club or coach will stop players from playing up if they are capable. No club will force players up force meaning against what the players and parents want because that would mean losing that player. No club will do that.

Another way to address this is for leagues to implement a rule that says "When given the option players must play on the team that's predominately their grade in school". Do this and all issues go away.

That gets us on the path to an eventual grad year method. Which we should all be against.

What should happen is a 12 month window and players play their age group or play up based on their skill level and what the player and parents think is best for them.

Yes maybe we could just let all the parents and kids play on any team they want while we are at it.

Older players showcases will have GY allowances that’s going to happen. I said that many moons ago (my friend works for us soccer well kind of) and the people can whine and say that’s dumb like when this all started with SY change( and I posted it was definitely happening) But 100% ECNL will have Juniors/Senior showcases where students play with their grade. Sophomores are still TBD.

Why do you lie so much?

ECNL already let's u18/u19 to play on the same team. (This is Juniora and Seniors).

What you want is to allow Seniora and Juniora to play down on Sophomore teams because you know this is the age group recruiters are all watching for new talent.

Sometimes you have to protect people from themselves. Also some parents dont think long term and will just club hop to whatever works best for them in the short term. This only helps them + makes things harder for everyone else invokved.

What's 7v7 like? Its been do long.

Do you still run on the field to hold your kids hand? Still doing the tunnel after games?
Not to be rude, but if you really don't remember than you wholly unqualified to make suggestions on how parents, clubs and leagues should operate. And more importantly, if you aren't involved with youth soccer anymore none of this should matter to you anymore. The game has changed but many are stuck in the past.

It’s not up to the parents, clubs, coaches or team managers.

Oh good we agree that Aug birthday players should not be playing down a grade even if technically they're able to depending on when their school starts.

Grade has nothing to do with it. It’s just a 12-month window (1-August-2016 to 31-July-2017 for example). -The should not be able to play an age-bracket down. And why would August birthday want to? They win as the new oldest team member of the group now. If they play up, they would be the youngest of the group and at a physical disadvantage.

Keep fighting it. Watch what happens.

Clubs value olders college committments over littles wins. Because of this they wont let Aug birthdays play down a grade.
No one agrees with you. All we agree on is that you call everyone cheaters and that you are lobbying for a version on grade alignment where your kid benefits.

Everyone agrees.

The issue is some Aug birthday player parents want to choose to play down a grade. The parent logic is my Aug birthday kid can be the youngest on a team with players their grade. Or they can be the oldest on a team with players a grade younger.

With littles it doesnt matter people only care about wins. With olders it 1000% matters because playing down a grade makes players unrecruitable for college.

In the end it's better to not allow playing down a grade. Because it solves issues before they become issues.

No it's SY with an 8/1-7/31 eligibility window with a rule that says players must play with their own grade. The differnce between this version of SY and GY is holdbacks arent allowed. You get the best of both worlds. Players are aligned 99% by grade and holdbacks are allowed to play down. This maximizes club profits and makes recruiters happy.

Yall need to invest in a calendar and learn to read it. Nobody wants a grade older Aug birthday players playing down on their kids team.
Parents don't pick teams, you don't like it? Leave. But you won't.

The only person that doesnt see the value of SY with a rule saying players must play with their grade is you.
