Horrible video. Why isn't this a hate crime? What wise words does the president have about this? |
| What evidence is there that this was a hate crime? The behavior appears motivated by the fact that the victim was a snitch, not because he was white. |
|
But in any case where it's white-on-black violence, it's always assumed to be racism.
Okay, just being sure we're clear. Double standard. Yeah, that's cool. |
I haven't read any articles about this, only clicked on the link above. Where did you get the snitch information? |
There's a link to a previous story from 11 July. http://www.wfla.com/story/22819448/3-teens-charged-in-pinellas-school-bus-beating "An investigation revealed one of the suspects had tried to sell drugs to the victim in a school bathroom. The victim notified officials at the school. Later that day, the suspects and victim rode the same school bus home." Snitches get stitches. Everyone knows that. No indication that this was motivated by racism. Since the OP is trying, clumsily, to connect this to Trayvon/Zimmerman, the difference here is Zimmerman profiled Trayvon because he was black. The perps here already knew the kid was a snitch. It doesn't excuse the violence, but it's a different sent of circumstances entirely. |
| Thanks for the info, PP. |
| The big question I have here is, WHY did the school apparently let those boys know who had "snitched" on them? That poor kid will probably never think of going to the school to report anything ever again. |
Due to the many crimes that neighborhood had dealt with recently, caused by blacks. Common sense, although overzealously carried out. |
Who said the crimes were caused by blacks? |
So, you wouldn't want your child to tell the school about some kids trying to sell him drugs? You wouldn't want him to do the right thing? That's crazy talk, yo. |
|
It sounds like this was handled VERY badly by the school.
If the black boys used racial/homophobic slurs then this should definitely be viewed as a hate crime. If not then this was was "just" a heinous crime for which those boys should be severely punished. |
OP- it sounds like you're trying to make a case here. What's your point? |
|
This sounds like a really horrible case of bullying and intimidation. It's awful the school didn't protect a kid who did the right thing and reported the drug issue.
If the reason for the beating is due to "snitching" (I HATE that word) then it seems likely they would have just as surely beat an AA boy who had reported the drug issue. |
You better believe it! Bullies are color blind when it comes to a snitch (I despite that word too). Someday, a bully will attack the wrong person, and they will fight back like Muhammad Ali. Of course, the victim will end up in jail, as usual. |
You mean like how Obama and the press tried to make a case out of Zimmerman, when the trial made perfectly clear there was none? |
