There were many other schools reopening at the same time. Yes, they were mostly blue states. Learning loss is huge and should be #1 priority. The GOP isn’t the solution to that problem. |
I don’t think it will even lower food prices. Once prices start going up, they don’t really appreciably come back down. Look at gas prices since 2008 vs. the price of oil. |
Are you kidding?? Yes. I see we have a very succinct illustration of why Democrats always shoot themselves in the foot. |
exactly.. I'm the ^^PP.. I'm self employed, too. I was able to do so because of ACA. There is another R in AZ who felt the same way, and thanked Obama "from the bottom of his heart". Taxes are one thing, but if I don't have access to insurance, I can't be self employed because I won't risk not having insurance (we are in on our 50s). I can still be self employed even if my taxes go up by a few points. I was self employed when Obama was in office.. you know, when Rs claimed taxes were too high. We were really worried when Rs tried to kill ACA. So grateful that they did not. Medicaid expansion helped the poor. Even WVA took the medicaid expansion. VA only did so a couple of years ago, but seems like Youngkin does not support programs to help the poor. |
![]() This guy figured out that lesson in both 2008 and 2012. Specifically, coddle white independents. Keep them soothed, secure, and happy. They don't want to think about difficult things. Obama needs to take control of the DNC and run the party. Only he can instill discipline and a winning strategy. Too many Boomers in leadership who don't know how to maintain order or discipline, especially with younger progressives who veer way off message. I think there's also a racial element at play - older white Democrats don't know how to fold in younger leaders who are POCs. Simultaneously, young POC leaders don't feel the need to listen to older, more experienced white Democrats. They are at a logjam and the results are disastrous. |
DP. I've been thinking about that and don't really understand it. When oil gets back to $100/barrel, where it should be, what will happen to gas prices at the pump? |
And she’s one cancer diagnosis away from her pretend perfect life. |
Private schools absolutely had more resources. It’s much easier to control the variables and mitigate risk when you are small and can mandate anything you want. |
Food prices didn't go up because of welfare. FFS. It was due to covid, less workers to pick the produce, pack the food, cut the meat. Youngkin can't control food prices. That's absurd. |
VA and NJ were both conservative on school closures, and I think the election results show that. |
^ I had one in private & one in public so I saw first hand how it went down. |
Unfortunately, for a lot of people the answer is yes. They are not interested in doing the work of learning about policy and understanding the candidates’ positions, they just want someone who will tell them what they want to hear regardless of whether it’s grounded in reality. |
There’s no evidence he wanted to be in the center. The minute he walked in the door he handed control of the agenda over to the left and progressives. |
There is not a high bar. The literal bar was just the party that won’t close schools for a year. |
