| My DS fell in love with the campus. But it seems like it's in the middle of nowhere. And it's sooo expensive. What do you think? |
| It's in the middle of nowhere and crazy expensive. |
| Great school, loyal alumni -- big in NY / NJ / CT / PA. |
| I went there. Loved it. It is in the middle of nowhere, but I never minded it. That said, I grew up in rural NH so it wasn't much of a change for me. Just went back for the first time in a few years last month - campus is still beautiful. Lots of new buildings. Big Greek scene when I was there - not sure about now. |
| I think they were mired down in a controversy over "inflating" their admission stats; particuarly the SAT scores. They were penalized. Check it out. |
| Loved it!! Great small college town, safe, great people! |
| Too fratty |

Can't imagine paying that much for bucknell
No way unless kid gets a great scholarship |
Actually, the error was against Bucknell which is funny in itself (school sent an e-mail). My DH attended. He enjoyed it. Although, we didn’t consider it for our DCs – too remote, too many frats, very little off campus housing. But, if that’s OK with your DC, then I think it’s a good school. |
| Loved Bucknell. Graduated almost 25 years ago. I always assumed I would send my kids there. But it has gotten too expensive. We won't qualify for aid and I don't think paying full price to subsidize others is useful for us. |
| The SAT scandal was over a few points. Definitely wrong but probably overhyped too. |

Gorgeous campus. We visited when snow was falling and it was very picturesque. I loved that the campus was right by the little town.
Fun fact - same architect who designed the Bucknell campus also did the Wake Forest campus. There are even buildings that have the same name. I applied to Bucknell and got in but wound up going to Wake Forest. I seem to remember getting some very small pittance of a scholarship - like $400/year? - from Bucknell. This was in the 90s. |
I used to believe this too. But now searching for DD2 colleges, I'm finding decent merit aid available. Not for top 25-30 colleges and I don't know about Bucknell. But U Miami (and Miami U, actually) give lots of money in merit scholarships. I think SATs need to be around 1300 and gpa about 3.7. After paying full for DD1, we're thrilled that DD2 is looking at schools with decent merit awards. |
| I would pass on a resume from Bucknell unless I saw something else compelling-- great experiences, top grades, merit scholarship (to explain why applicant where there and not state u). |
you're an ass |
