| Newer to DC in the private sector. Curious to know the highest possible income is for a DC based GS and DC based SES including cost of living etc. basically all cash income (but not pensions etc) |
| Opm.gov |
| Yeah, check out the pay scales on OPM.gov. |

Have at it.... |
|
No fed on the GS scale can be paid more than $155,500 right now (which is the salary for assistant secretaries at cabinet level agencies).
On the SES scale, the max basic pay is $179,700 (but max total comp. is $230,700, the VP's pay). |
| Some agencies, particularly financial services agencies like the SEC or the Fed, have gotten permission to be on separate salary scales (and then there are some oddities like the Smithsonian, which has crazy high salaries for no reason I can understand-- at one point I think the head of the Smithsonian was making twice what the president made). |
| Don't forget the furlough deduction! |
| Just replying to the Smithsonian pay comment. Some agencies have both federal and trust employees. Trust employees get basically the exact same benefits as the Federal employees, but they are paid out of a separate pot of money (which doesn't come from the government, but is privately raised/endowed.) |
| SES also gets awards/grant and I've seen $1K-$27K per year! |

Look up your neighbors!!! |
Are those total comp or salaries? |
| Don't forget furlough deduction plus reductions in FSA reimbursements this year and perhaps in future, increase in health insur. premiums, etc. |
It is the annual salary rate and any cash bonus paid (time off awards not shown). |
| Also no law enforcement positions (e.g., criminal investigators) are listed for privacy reasons. |
