I watched the video. Hilaria/Hillary was not stating, or even suggesting, that she personally had been subjected to racism. There's a lot of things to criticize here, don't get me wrong, but that video isn't one of them.

Only a white person can say that. Did you see how she started her video by pointing to her "darker" skin and talking about racism?

To me this says a lot about magazines and newspapers that don’t do any research. Someone posted a link to an alumnus page where she was on it. Videos of her mother online. I also believe she at least spent time there but now it’s clear she’s was an rich east coast prep girl with hair dye.

This is incorrect--I thought it was well-known that Hispanic includes Spain, since it just refers to a Spanish-speaking country. For example, LA Times:

According to the US Census and several US Hispanic organizations, people with heritage from Spain are Hispanic. But what they generally aren't are Latino. There is a difference.

Okay, I do feel bad for her and I almost believed her initial video explaining all of this, but a few things make me feel like it really was something false that she created on purpose:

1) In her explanation video she claimed that she changed her name to Hilaria because having 2 names (Hilary, and Hilaria, her family's nickname) got too confusing and gave an example of picking up a prescription at the pharmacy and not knowing what name it was under. This confusion happens when you change your name legally but NOT with a family nickname. No one wonders if their prescription is under their legal name or their family nickname.

2) Alec's claim on whatever late-night talk show it was that his wife was from Spain.

3) The bio on her agency's website stating that she was born in Majorca. There's no way she didn't see and/or approve that!

So, yeah, she's full of it.

That's what we all thought too, those of us who have been posting on this thread for months. That she at least spent some time in Spain. But now I wonder if even that much is true?
